NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – BirchStreet Systems Inc., the leading cloud-based Procure-to-Pay platform serving the hospitality industry, announced the hiring of Sundar Kamak as its senior vice president of marketing and product strategy.

Kamak will have direct responsibility for leading and managing BirchStreet Systems marketing, product marketing, pre-sales and solution engineering/consulting activities. He will also act as a senior member of the BirchStreet executive team. “It’s a groundbreaking opportunity,” Kamak said. “Never before has there been a SaaS company that has delivered such a comprehensive P2P solution for F&B, and I am excited to scale that across the globe.”

Kamak has more than 20 years of experience as a strategic sourcing and supply chain management practitioner. This includes experience in solutions/customer marketing, product management and engineering, while interacting with customers across the globe.

“We couldn’t be happier to have Sundar join our leadership team,” said Steve Markle, COO of BirchStreet. “His depth of knowledge in Source-to-Pay is unmatched in the industry and will help us achieve a much broader footprint of value across our customer base and especially in new verticals and geographies. He has a record of thought leadership in every role he’s taken and we expect a great impact to BirchStreet’s target markets moving forward.”

Kamak came to BirchStreet from SAP Ariba, where he was vice president and product owner. He joined SAP Ariba in 2004, through the FreeMarkets acquisition, as a solution line manager focused on driving Ariba’s business strategy and market leadership and delivering growth in strategic sourcing solutions.

Prior to joining Ariba, Kamak spent a number of years with eBusiness automotive marketplace Covisint, in their Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Solution group. He led large strategic sourcing and eBusiness transformation initiatives for the group’s automotive OEMs. Before that, Kamak worked in manufacturing and supply chain operations in a variety of roles for aerospace and automotive companies.

Kamak has been an active leader in his industry, presenting at Sourcing Interest Group (SIG) events, the ISM Supply Management Conference, the Ariba Live conference and the Procurement Leaders and Procurecon conference. He has also contributed to several sourcing and supply chain-focused blogs and magazines.

Kamak earned master’s degrees in both materials science & engineering and mechanical engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit.
