IHG® (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, today announced a deal with Shenzhen-based property developer Kingkey Group. Under the deal, IHG will take over the management of one of Kingkey’s hotels in Dameisha, Shenzhen, China. As of 1 January 2020, the hotel will formally be rebranded as the InterContinental Shenzhen Dameisha Resort and will offer an upgraded selection of services and facilities. The signing ceremony for the deal was held in Shenzhen and was attended by Daniel Aylmer, IHG’s Chief Operating Officer for Greater China, Hua Chen, Chairman of the Kingkey Group, and other representatives.
Immerse in the InterContinental® experience with newly-renovated rooms
The InterContinental Shenzhen Dameisha Resort is superbly located on Dameisha Beach, a popular tourist and leisure destination on Shenzhen’s east coast, and boasts stunning sea views from all of its guest rooms. In addition to a brand upgrade, under which it will join the luxury InterContinental Hotels & Resorts family, the hotel will also unveil its exclusive Club InterContinental experience in 2020, bringing guests a new level of refinement and exclusivity, including 60 luxury guest rooms, an outdoor infinity pool, indoor swimming pool, and an exquisite executive lounge, restaurant and other facilities. Guests will be able to enjoy highly personalised services and take in commanding views of blue seas and sandy beaches. In addition, the hotel’s main building will also gradually be upgraded to IHG standards, including its 370 guest rooms, meeting rooms, dining facilities, leisure facilities, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. This will deliver a superior seaside stay experience for guests.
IHG’s Chief Operating Officer for Greater China, Daniel Aylmer, remarked: “We are delighted to team up with Kingkey Group and take the InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts brand to Shenzhen’s beautiful Dameisha Beach. Kingkey Group is one of Shenzhen’s leading businesses and has a wealth of experience in hotel investment and management. Going forward, we will pool our strengths to create a higher standard for beach resorts in China and deliver a superior stay experience for business travellers, holidaymakers, and families, who will discover what it means to live the InterContinental Life.”
As of today, guests can book the InterContinental Shenzhen Dameisha Resort for stays from 1 January 2020 onwards through the IHG Rewards Club WeChat and Alipay mini programmes, IHG website and app, the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts website, or by calling an IHG worldwide reservation office. IHG Rewards Club members and InterContinental Ambassadors can also unlock exclusive benefits.
Doubling down on the Greater Bay Area
The preferential policies and seamless transport connections enjoyed by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area have created strong synergies that are driving growth in the local hotel market. Following China’s publication of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” in February this year, development in the Bay Area has shifted up a gear, creating exciting new opportunities for the hotel, cultural, and tourism sectors.
Since launching its inaugural hotel in China in 1984, IHG has closely aligned itself with China’s national strategies and regional development policies, and has recently stepped up investment in the Greater Bay Area. As of the end of Q3 2019, the Area was already home to 43 operational IHG hotels, covering the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo®, Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts, HUALUXE® Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn® and Holiday Inn Express® brands, while several other properties were under construction or in the pipeline. In this context, IHG’s recent partnership with Kingkey represents yet another major breakthrough for the group in the Greater Bay Area.
