Matthew Brink and Whitney Dang Appointed in New Roles as Boutique Art Hotel Enters Final Stages of Development
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Nearing completion in Charlottesville, Virginia’s historic downtown area, Quirk Hotel Charlottesville is proud to announce two executive leadership team members for the art-driven hotel, including the appointment of seasoned hospitality leaders Matthew Brink as general manager and Whitney Dang as area director of sales & marketing.
The first boutique art hotel to open in Charlottesville, Virginia’s historic downtown, Quirk Hotel Charlottesville beautifully interweaves chic with vintage while encouraging curiosity for the unique, inspiring and beautiful. Slated to open in Spring 2020, Quirk Hotel uses art and history as central design elements to spark curiosity and draw guests into the present moment.
With an extensive background within the Hyatt portfolio, including experience with hotels across the country from Miami Beach, FL, to Long Beach, CA, Brink will bring twenty-five years of industry knowledge to Charlottesville’s newest boutique art hotel. Most recently, Brink served as hotel manager based at The Confidante Hotel where he was responsible for all hotel operations, while also overseeing the corporate design and food and beverage program. Previously, Brink was the director of food & beverage at the Grand Hyatt Dallas Fort-Worth and Hyatt Regency Long Beach. Throughout his career, Brink has persistently delivered high guest satisfaction through his personable manner and genuine care to each situation and person he encounters.
In his new role, Brink will oversee all property operations including 80 guestrooms and suites, over 11,000 square-feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, a rustic hyper-seasonal restaurant and an in-house art gallery, featuring local, regional and national artists.

Dang joined the Quirk Hotel brand with over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry. Dang was previously the assistant director of sales and marketing at the Thompson Chicago hotel where she led five national and regional accounts, while also securing several new on-brand partnerships to successfully increase leisure travel. Dang kick-started her career based at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago where she touched on every aspect of the hotel’s sales department, leading her into her six-year long role at the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile where she serviced events as a Convention Services Manager and ultimately rose to Senior Catering Manager. Dang has found success in each role driving revenue and implementing strategies to streamline processes to consistently deliver substantial financial results.
As the property’s area director of sales & marketing, Dang will oversee the sales & marketing team, develop multi-faceted strategies across business segments and implement global sales while bringing the hotels’ extraordinary experiences to life for both Quirk Hotel Charlottesville and Quirk Hotel Richmond, the first hotel opened by the Quirk Hotel brand in 2015.
