The hotel, which will feature 146 guestrooms including 38 luxury suites, will be a hub for the community, playing an important role in the growth and revival of White Plains as a modern city center in the heart of Westchester. The name ‘Opus’ refers to both a musical composition and an artistic work on a large scale, and true to its name, creativity, art and music will be woven into the fabric of the hotel’s DNA. Guests will enjoy a host of unique programming, such as signature meditative sound baths, and artful touches will envelop guests with reverberating experiences attuned to its creative spirit. The property will be a warm and welcoming space with a social nature and modern appeal, featuring inviting open spaces, eclectic art and décor, authentic experiences, urban glamour and personalized service.
“We are thrilled to welcome guests and locals alike to The Opus this spring, an integral part of the dynamic, urban evolution of Westchester,” said General Manager Elizabeth Andrews. “From the moment they walk through the doors, guests will be treated to a strong sense of community and connection fostered through social spaces, a warm design aesthetic, and highly attuned service. Whether a local resident looking for cocktails and conversation, a business traveler seeking a place to unwind after a long day of meetings or a day tripper escaping the fast-paced city life, The Opus will deliver interest, seduction and a vibrant energy at every turn.”
LOBBY
At The Opus, this experience will begin at street level, welcoming the community into an inviting entry lobby with a glamorous yet warm, residential feel. The space will be luxurious yet approachable with comfortable seating, transitioning easily from day to night and enabling guests to interact in an organic, natural way. The lobby and lounge area will feature walnut wood paneled columns, balanced with modern accents such as lush green walls, bold artwork and contemporary art and fashion books. The furniture will feature an eclectic mix of tones, textures and materials including stone-top tables and upholstered and metal framed pieces, walnut wood, polished chrome and white Carrara stone, with a color scheme of warm deep amber tones contrasted by cool blues with hints of brass and gold. The centerpiece of the lobby will be a gold-leafed crystal chandelier, creating an alluring glow throughout the lobby while making the open space feel intimate and grounded.
The hotel’s lobby bar will be infused with a vibrant, eclectic punch. The social, open space will feature elevated details with stylish décor, starting with the walnut coffered ceiling with metallic accents and modern light pendants, contrasted with an abstract, colorful carpet design. The collection of bar stools with animal prints and bright textures, along with deep green velvet button tufted banquettes, stone tables, and mod leather lounge chairs, add a fun and whimsical touch. Guests will be able to relax in the intimate, approachable space, enjoying creative cocktails, chef-driven small bites and social interaction. Fine dining can be found at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, Kanopi, located 42 floors above street level with sweeping floor-to-ceiling views of the New York City skyline, Hudson Valley and the Long Island Sound. With chef-led tasting menus, boutique wine pairings and an intimate dining experience, Kanopi offers a unique farm-to-table culinary experience from Chef Anthony Gonçalves, capturing the essence of Portugal while remaining firmly in the Hudson Valley through seasonal menus comprised of old-world flavors and local farm-fresh ingredients.
GUESTROOMS
The design concept for The Opus’ 146 luxury guestrooms and suites is an “Art Lovers’ Retreat,” a peaceful getaway tucked away from the fast-paced city life. The residential-style guestrooms, evocative of an urban loft, are spacious, well-appointed and comfortable with large workspaces. The furniture and design and international high-end brands including Samuelson Furniture, Lusive Lighting and Loloey Carpets, introduce a mix of different styles and eras. Pulling from art deco, modernist and traditional, the rooms feature wide plank wood floors and decorative accents including a sculpture console, table lamp made of red marble & brass and an area rug. The modern, sophisticated artwork consists of a mix of photographs, paintings and graphic arts, reflective of a residential art collection built out over time. The creative spirit of the property continues along the guest corridor with a modernist painterly-styled carpet, modern disc ceiling pendant and sculptural sconces.
ROOFTOP POOL & WELLNESS
The hotel’s rooftop pool, which offers striking 360-degree views, will be transformed into a tropical urban oasis complete with teak furniture with patterned fabrics and lush greenery. The pool deck will be activated with programming including guided water fitness and poolside meditation. The Opus signature sound baths will bring a sense of wellness and well-being to guests. The gym will offer two Peloton bikes so guests can enjoy a variety of live and on demand cycling classes.
MEETINGS & EVENT SPACE
The Opus will feature 10,000 square feet of event space on their second level including a newly enhanced Gallery & Ballroom. The design will be an extension of the lobby, with each event space featuring its own personality and story. The main, pre-function area, referred to as “The Gallery” will be a glass enclosed space with incredible, floor-to-ceiling window views. This space can be transformed into a multitude of layouts and functions with standout features including an abstract mural located inside a large ceiling cove that will also feature a contemporary gold-leafed chandelier, adding a sculpture feature to the space. The other spaces, a combination of meetings rooms, pre-function spaces and a grand ballroom, will offer a variety of options for functions of all size and scale from weddings and mitzvahs to galas and fundraisers.
