Clairvoyix Marketing Database leveraged by the State of Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR)
LAS VEGAS – April 27, 2021 – March of 2020 was the beginning of a long, forced hibernation for many travel and leisure focused companies, and like many Clairvoyix was faced with dwindling revenues as their client properties either shut their doors or significantly reduced their operations. With state governments enforcing “stay at home orders” business came to a near standstill, resulting in an unprecedented number of unemployment insurance claims. As the unemployment claims backlog was growing, Governor Sisolak of the State of Nevada launched a “Rapid Response Strike Force” to address the growing backlog of unemployment claims. Barbara Buckley, former Nevada Speaker of the House, was appointed to chair the Strike Force.
Mike Schmitt, CEO of Clairvoyix was invited to join the Strike Force by Ms. Buckley, as the Strike Force needed specific technology expertise around consumer data, analytics, and match logic. The charter of the Strike Force was to reduce the backlog of unemployment claims, and the current systems within DETR were overwhelmed. Mike and the Clairvoyix team offered database services utilizing the Clairvoyix hospitality specific marketing database, repurposed to process and analyze unemployment insurance claimant data.
“The Clairvoyix marketing database is optimized to process large quantities of guest check-outs in a very short window, including the application of data hygiene and match logic” said Mike Schmitt, CEO of Clairvoyix. This same technology was used to match claimants to existing state agency data to help confirm the identity of deserving unemployment insurance claimants, and most importantly to get them paid.”
Clairvoyix worked with the IT department of DETR to facilitate the secure transfer of data and worked with DETR and the Chief Economist to identify relevant analytic tasks that would support the charter of the Strike Force, expeditiously reducing the backlog of claims.
“Through the process of identifying deserving claimants we started to see patterns of fraud, from claimants who simply did not match existing state agency data, to claimants using mailing addresses that had been submitted by hundreds of claimants previously” added Mike Schmitt. “we were then asked by the State fraud department to work with and share our results with the Department of Justice. I was very proud of the fact that we could use our hospitality specific technology and services to bring great benefit to the citizens of the state we call home, while helping to identify and prevent unemployment benefits fraud.”
As many companies wish to “give back” to the local communities where they operate, Clairvoyix was given the unique opportunity to utilize the resources of the company that otherwise would have sat idle as we waited for the travel and leisure industry to recover.
“For me it was gratifying to see the public sector working in harmony with private enterprise on a singular mission, simply to help the deserving people of the State of Nevada”, said Barbara Buckley. “Mike and his team at Clairvoyix provided much needed expertise and resources during a critical time during my tenure as the leader of the Nevada Rapid Response Strike Force.”
From the beginning Clairvoyix believed in the power of clean, accurate, and fully leveraged consumer data. While it was never contemplated during our formative years, our templated approach to hospitality specific database marketing lends itself to a wide variety of applications. For Clairvoyix the pandemic has proven that through adversity a new and unique application for a marketing database just might present itself.
