Vietnam – August, 18 2021 – IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Ha Long Bay Hotel Joint Stock Company to create a spectacular new resort in Halong City.
Opening in 2023, Holiday Inn Resort Halong Bay will be the second Holiday Inn Resort to open in Vietnam, after Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach, and will quickly establish itself as the premier family destination in Halong Bay.
The 208-key property will provide an iconic landmark on the city’s skyline thanks to its towering architecture and will be situated at the heart of a stunning mixed-used development project also featuring resort apartments and a retail podium.
Facilities at Holiday Inn Resort Halong Bay will include three restaurants and bars, over 1,300 square metres of meeting space including a banquet hall, an adult-only infinity pool, an indoor kids’ adventure pool, a fitness centre and spa.
Serena Lim, Vice President, Development for South East Asia and Korea, IHG, said:
“We are excited to partner with Ha Long Bay Hotel Joint Stock Company – an affiliate of Global Invest JSC – to develop our flagship Holiday Inn Resort in Halong Bay.
“Its opening in 2023 will herald a new era of fun for the whole family in Halong City – a concept we know is in high demand and is reflected in our decision to open three Holiday Inn Resorts in the country – Ho Tram, Halong Bay and Sapa – in the next three years.
“We understand that families want to stay at a resort that offers both a great holiday experience and great value, and it needs to have dedicated on-site activities for kids of all ages, and be in a highly-desirable location, too.”
Mr. Nguyen Ba Tien, President, Global Invest JSC, said:
“I am delighted to partner with IHG, who share my vision of developing world-class and integrated destination concepts in Vietnam which complement the ecosystem of Global Invest JSC’s industry verticals, such as our famous hop-on, hop-off buses.
“Since the pandemic began, we have seen Vietnamese families rediscover travel in their own backyards. This has offered a boost to destinations such as my hometown of Halong City, which is no longer just a transit point to Halong Bay but instead quickly becoming a top leisure destination in its own right.
“Located centrally in Halong City, Holiday Inn Resort Halong Bay will be the perfect base for travellers as they enjoy everything our mixed-use development has to offer. With outdoor adventures, scenic landscapes, theme parks and beaches, as well as best-in-class convention centres, within easy reach there will be something for everyone in this vibrant destination.”
A 50-minute drive from Haiphong Cat Bi International Airport, Holiday Inn Resort Halong Bay will be located along Bai Chay Road and within walking distance of Sun World theme park and a public beach. Guests can take a day boat out to Halong Bay and explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its 2,000 beautiful islets.
Enjoying some of the world’s most desirable locations – on beaches, by theme parks, next to golf courses – Holiday Inn Resorts brings out the joy of travel. Offering a wide variety of activities and comforts from kids’ clubs and signature swimming pools, to informal restaurants and connected rooms to keep the whole family happy, relaxed and entertained, it is part of the Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts family of brands that champions meaningful connections for all travellers.
By 2025, IHG will have opened Holiday Inn Resort Halong Bay, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort and InterContinental Residences Halong Bay in Quang Ninh province, showing confidence in its ability to offer domestic and international travellers the perfect leisure getaway or corporate retreat.
With 13 hotels in Vietnam, mainly in the luxury and lifestyle segment with the Six Senses Hotels, Resorts & Spas and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brands, Holiday Inn Resort Halong Bay continues IHG’s expansion into the mainstream travel segment and joins a pipeline of 19 hotels across seven brands.
