FISH CAMP, CA — September 22, 2021 — Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite has named Brett Archer as general manager of the 352 room resort located at Yosemite National Park’s south gate and set on 75 forested acres featuring the main lodge, cottages and its two-bedroom Explorer Cabins, which opened in summer 2019. Archer joins Tenaya Lodge from Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, where he served in the same capacity.

The appointment is a homecoming for Archer who has spent most of his nearly 30-year career in Yosemite and over 25 years with Delaware North Companies. Prior to Sequoia and Kings Canyon, Archer was assistant general manager at Tenaya Lodge and helped oversee the resort’s $25 million investment and expansion project, which included the addition of the Explorer Cabins, new restaurant concepts and exciting new programming such as the guided Yosemite tours in custom buses with retractable roofs.

“It’s wonderful to be returning to Yosemite and Tenaya Lodge,” said Archer. “I’m looking forward to evolving with Tenaya Lodge and leading our talented hospitality team particularly as we continue to recover from the impacts of the pandemic.”

Archer began his career in 1993 as rooms manager at the legendary Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite, where he worked for 10 years before accepting the role of general manager at Yosemite’s Curry Village. He returned to the Ahwahnee in 2011 as general manager and served in the position for eight years.

In addition to overseeing day-to-day resort operations at Tenaya Lodge, a priority for Archer is helping rebuild leisure and corporate group business such as weddings and executive retreats, which have been slow to return due to the pandemic. He’ll also oversee the introduction of several upgraded programs and amenities at the property including a new outdoor dining experience and revamped Yosemite tours in 2022.
