IHG Hotels & Resorts announces the opening of Crowne Plaza Kearney, conveniently attached to the Younes Conference Center and close to many of Nebraska’s top attractions. The hotel is centrally located between Omaha and Denver and is the first new-build convention hotel from Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts in the U.S. since 2020. The opening signals excitement for the return of business travel and in-person events to facilitate meaningful connections.
Ideally suited for the growing ‘bleisure’ travel segment, this new hotel features Crowne Plaza’s modern, purposeful style designed around connection. Throughout the main areas, the spaces are flexible with a mix of private and social gathering spaces that help guests to feel productive and comfortable. Each of the 172 modern guest rooms are designed using Crowne Plaza’s signature zoning concept to create spaces where guests can move easily through their day.
Crowne Plaza Kearney gives guests more options to work and socialize. With the 70,000-square-feet of dedicated space for meetings and events at the Younes Conference Center, and the brand’s signature Plaza Workspace areas, Crowne Plaza Kearney is the perfect setting for large scale events, weddings, as well as informal meetings and meals. While the meetings and events industry experienced the most uncertainty throughout 2021, there are encouraging signs from planners this year with forecasts showing 58.3 percent of meetings volume will return by the end of 2022. IHG’s award-winning Meet with Confidence program was created in 2020 to support the changing needs of meeting planners. A Crowne Plaza Meeting Director is on hand to ensure that any gathering planned at the hotel is seamless from start to finish.
On-site amenities also include a premium coffee shop and an indoor waterpark. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, Fyre Grill & Spirits, provides flexible all-day dining with a menu reflecting the flavors of the Midwest, while global favorites are available via room service. Guests can easily walk to six restaurants, shops, and a spa located on the convention center campus, and the hotel provides free parking and a complimentary shuttle service to the Kearney Regional Airport. The Great Platte River Road Archway, the Classic Car Collection, and the University of Nebraska Kearney are all a short drive away.
Ginger Taggart, vice president, Global Brand Management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts said: “The new Crowne Plaza Kearney is a wonderful example of how Crowne Plaza is delivering service and spaces which exceed the needs of today’s traveler and their blended work and leisure needs. The premium dining options, prime location and people-focused service make this the ideal place to stay, connect and experience the Midwest. As business travel continues to return, we are excited to see this property become a sought-after destination.”
Paul Younes, President of Younes Hospitality commented: “We’re excited to add Crowne Plaza Kearney to our growing portfolio of brands on the Younes Campus. This addition brings a new level of upscale accommodations for our leisure and business guests. Hospitality is in our name, and we continue our commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience for both our business and leisure travelers who are here for an event and also want to explore all that Kearney has to offer. “
Crowne Plaza continues its growth across the U.S., with two multi-million-dollar renovations set to open later this year in Indiana and Florida. The brand currently has over 400 hotels located in major urban centers, gateway cities and resort destinations in more than 60 countries, with 15 more due to open in 2022.
