Duck, NC (July 21, 2022) – Sanderling Resort, the only full-service property on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, is pleased to announce the appointment of Katharine Craig to the role of Director of Spa & Retail. Bringing nearly 15 years of experience in hospitality and spa management, at the helm of The Spa at Sanderling, Katharine will lead all wellness initiatives on-property and oversee all operations of the Spa and retail shop. With views of the tranquil Currituck Sound, the Spa at Sanderling features ten treatment rooms offering coastal and seasonally inspired massage, body, and facial treatments as well as signature treatments drawn from the unique natural resources of the Outer Banks coastline.
Katherine’s new responsibilities include supervising and maintaining the Spa, retail shop and various other relaxation areas including the eucalyptus steam room, an indoor heated pool, and solarium. She will manage a dedicated team of health experts, curate unique programming and specialty treatments, and execute a wide range of spa services including the new CBD-infused massages and the destination-inspired Ocean Serenity Ritual or Sea Splendor.
“We are thrilled to have Katharine join our Sanderling Resort team in leading the spa and retail operations,” said Jake Hatch, Sanderling’s Director Of Sales & Marketing. “We’re looking forward to her creativity and dedication to customer service shining through every treatment and service, providing locals and visitors alike unique, authentic wellness experiences that are a reflection of the Outer Banks.”
A Western Pennsylvania native, Katharine first began her wellness career as a Coordinator at a local spa. To further her breadth of knowledge and continue to chase her passion, Katharine relocated to North Carolina where she spent several years at the prestigious Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club in the mountains of Western North Carolina, working her way up to Spa Manager.
Trading the mountains for the beach, Katherine was drawn to Sanderling Resort’s exceptional guest experience, and with her vast knowledge of the hospitality and spa management spaces, she looks forward to expanding the spa menu at the resort. Katherine is proud to now call the Outer Banks home, and in her free time enjoys long hikes, weekends at the beach, trying new foods, and contributing her time to humane societies and museums.
