Hangzhou, 9 August 2022 – Christoph Knichel has been appointed as the new General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Hangzhou and will take responsibility for all aspects of Kempinski Hotel Hangzhou’s operations and management to create a haven in a remarkable constellation with European service where guests can stay in style and comfort.
Christoph Knichel is a seasoned hotelier with a career spanning 30 years in companies such as Hyatt, Sheraton, Dusit and Wanda, as well as in hotel consulting companies. Christoph started his career in hospitality in Germany with Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel and Towers in 1993. He then held management positions with luxury hotels across the globe. From 2005 to 2008, he was General Manager at Sheraton Congress Hotel Frankfurt in Germany and brought an excellent hotel business performance and marketing reputation. From 2009 to 2019, he continued his General Manager journey in Germany, France, Czech Republic, Thailand and China with his extensive international experience in all areas of pre-opening, operational, financial and people management, as well as his consulting expertise in the hospitality industry.

Born in Germany, Christoph Knichel holds a diploma in International Hospitality Management from Glion Hotel Management School and an Executive Master of Business Administration from HTW Chur University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland, and from the University of Delaware, USA. Besides his native language, German, he speaks fluent English and French and also has a good knowledge of Italian. In his spare time, Christoph is a keen tennis player and skier. He is also looking forward to exploring the fascinating culture and authentic lifestyle in Hangzhou.
