NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 19, 2022) – Carl Barnes has been named the new general manager of the 343-room DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Nashville Downtown. With more than 22 years of industry experience, Carl Barnes joins DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Nashville Downtown at a crucial time at the end of a room renovation and during its lobby, pre-function space and fitness center renovation set to debut this year. In his role, Barnes oversees all hotel operations, including hotel administration and revenue management leading up to, and following, the new renovations, all while supporting the hotel’s mission to provide outstanding service to its guests.
“Carl has a dedicated and impressive record in hotel management, including many years of previous experience at DoubleTree Nashville Downtown and will be a valuable asset to the SPIRE Hospitality team as a whole,” said John Schilling, regional managing director at SPIRE Hospitality.
“It is an honor to join DoubleTree Nashville Downtown with a team that has become like family over the years,” said Barnes. “This is a great time to be a part of this great property, and I can’t wait to dive in to all the exciting things we have coming up in the near future.”
Carl started his career in hospitality as a part-time bellhop at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel in Raleigh, North Carolina. He then transitioned to the positions of executive steward, executive housekeeper, and assistant front office manager. Before moving to Music City, he made more stops at a Hyatt Place, the launching of an Aloft Hotel in Richmond, Virginia, and the DoubleTree Memphis Downtown in Memphis, Tennessee.
According to Barnes, Nashville is a bright spot on our map and a place that everyone should put on their short list of places to visit. He supports his wife’s new singing career and spends time with his two boys, who are 7 and 12 years old, when he isn’t at the hotel interacting with guests and learning about their journeys to Nashville. Additionally, he tries to attend 30 to 40 concerts per year and has a massive collection of concert posters to show for it. He also travels to Peru to see family; most recently, he spent the summer in Lima.
