MEMPHIS, TN – August 2, 2023 – The Memphian, the only hotel in Memphis’ Overton Square, is proud to announce Bobbie Peppers has been appointed General Manager. In her new role, Bobbie is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the 106-room boutique property and is instrumental in the management of the hotel’s two onsite restaurants Tiger & Peacock and Complicated Pilgrim.
Peppers brings nearly two decades of hospitality experience to The Memphian, including time spent as Senior Sales Manager at Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville; Associate Director of Sales at Omni Hotel & Resorts in Louisville; Director of Sales at Hu Hotel & Aparium in Memphis; and most recently, Director of Sales at The Memphian. In her newest role as General Manager, she manages the leadership and direction of the hotel, spearheads employee development, and builds awareness of the brand within the local area and beyond.
“The Memphian embodies the authentic and eclectic essence of Memphis in a way this city hasn’t seen before,” says Peppers. “Overton Square is filled with local creatives that we’re so excited to showcase through The Memphian’s artwork, new guest programming and creative dining options. My true passion lies in mentoring, empowering and celebrating those around me – I’m thrilled to carry on this tradition in a bigger way as General Manager.”
Since her appointment to General Manager, Peppers has already introduced innovative programming to guests at The Memphian, including the hotel’s Treasure Hunt package. Celebrating Memphis’ vibrant vintage scene, the new offering takes guests on an exclusive guided walk through local antique shops and ends with a tour of The Memphian’s own antiqued and repurposed finds. Additionally, Peppers will support the launch of Gallery Evenings, where local artists who have contributed their works to the property will meet and mingle with guests. She is also supporting the expansion of the hotel’s culinary program, including the debut of a new lunch menu at Complicated Pilgrim, transforming the eatery into a go-to spot in Overton Square from morning until night.
“Bobbie brings an accomplished skillset, unwavering passion, and a commitment to providing unforgettable experiences to The Memphian,” says Matt Barba, chief operating officer of Charlestowne Hotels (The Memphian’s management company). “Her knowledge of Memphis has already deeply enriched the guest experience, and we’re looking forward to watching The Memphian flourish under her leadership.”
