The CollegeTown development will increase accommodations by nearly 60% for guests, as well as expand retail space
TALLAHASSEE, FL – October, 27 2023 – South-Florida based developer, Urban Street Development (USD), is thrilled to announce a significant expansion to Hotel Indigo, a beloved fixture in the heart of the vibrant CollegeTown district, adding 84 new hotel rooms to its existing 143-room capacity, bringing the total number of rooms to 231. Since its grand opening in 2020, Hotel Indigo has become a landmark destination for both business and leisure travelers, especially as a hub for Florida State University sports fans, parents, alumni, and legislatures. These improvements are set to elevate its offerings even further. The expansion project is scheduled to break ground in Spring 2024, with an estimated completion date set for 14 months later.
The expansion will encompass 60,000 square feet, introducing 5,500 square feet of retail space, facing Doak Campbell at Gaines Street with Woodward Avenue roundabout. “The expansion of our hotel compliments the mission of CollegeTown, by providing an elevated experience while attracting more visitors, which will further drive the economic engine for our local district businesses,” said Alan Hooper, Co-Founder of Urban Street Development (USD).
The expansion project will be an addition to the west side of the existing building, preserving the charm and character that guests have come to love. With USD’s commitment to providing exceptional design and architecture, they partnered with Ai3, the same renowned firm that shaped the existing structure. The design will remain consistent, ensuring the expansion complements the hotel’s aesthetics seamlessly. Parking is provided as part of an existing off-site agreement at the CollegeTown garage.
Situated at 826 West Gaines Street, Hotel Indigo boasts a distinctive aesthetic that fuses elements of the past with the present, with concrete floors, black brick walls, and industrial flourishes lending a unique character to the property. InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) operates the seven-story boutique hotel.
