Kretschmer Transitions into New Role After More Than 20 Years with The Texas-Based Independent Hospitality Group
AUSTIN, TX – January 12, 2024 – Valencia Hotel Collection (VHC) proudly announces the promotion of Roy Kretschmer to the position of Chief Operating Officer – Valencia Hospitality Group. This move comes in light of Kretschmer’s exceptional two-decade tenure with the brand, marked by a proven track record of successful hotel openings, prestigious awards, and exhibiting admirable leadership.
Previously serving as VHC’s Executive Vice President of Operations, Kretschmer will continue to spearhead initiatives to optimize business operations and collaborate closely with department heads and supervisors, Kretschmer is dedicated to enhancing the day-to-day efficiency of each property within the Valencia Hotel Collection. Part of the larger Valencia Hotel Group, Roy will support VHC by introducing the portfolio to new markets as well as expanding its property management services.

Kretschmer joined Valencia Hotel Collection in 2001, as Hotel Valencia Riverwalk’s opening General Manager. A testament to his exceptional leadership, the property was featured in Condé Nast Traveler’s list of the World’s Top 100 New Hotels just one year after opening. Over the next decade, Kretschmer worked alongside CEO Doyle Graham Jr. to develop the company’s robust portfolio of distinctive hotels from the ground up, spanning from San Jose, California, to College Station, Lubbock, Irving, and Austin, Texas.
Doyle credits Roy’s forward-thinking and dedication to the brand for much of its continued success over the past two decades. Together, their collaborative efforts have not only solidified the brand’s excellence but have also played a pivotal role in shaping the overall trajectory of parent company, Valencia Hotel Group, as a whole. With a shared passion for innovation, Doyle and Roy continue to chart a course for the next years to come, anticipating additional development that promises to further elevate Valencia Hotel Group and Valencia Hotel Collection’s presence in the industry.
During his time at VHC, Kretschmer has helped the portfolio usher in numerous prestigious awards, including a U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hotels in the USA, AAA’s Four Diamond Award, and Conde Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards, along with many other impressive accolades. Under his dynamic leadership, the brand has affirmed its record of excellence in the hospitality industry, positioning VHC as a leading independent hospitality group in Texas.

Kretschmer brings with him over thirty years of experience in the luxury, lifestyle, and boutique markets, hailing from the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, La Mansion Del Rio Hotel, and the Omni Houston Hotel. He graduated from the Honors Program of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from their renowned College of Hotel Administration.
