(Nashville, Tenn., January 29, 2024) Lendlease, a global integrated real estate group, and IHG® Army Hotels announced today that renovations are complete at Organ Mountains Inn, a historic hotel located within New Mexico’s prestigious White Sands Missile Range. Renovations were carefully executed to achieve Historia Collection™ designation – a distinguished recognition for hotels that seamlessly blend rich history with modern amenities.
Comprising three buildings, Organ Mountains Inn features 58 guest rooms including a variety of one- and two-bedroom standard rooms and suites with kitchenettes and two Distinguished Visitor Quarters providing exceptional accommodation for esteemed guests. Enhancements include a redesigned lobby and front desk area; expanded amenities such as a fitness center, hot breakfast buffet, great room, recreational room and meeting rooms; new furniture and fixtures in guest rooms; and a redesigned suite shop with upgraded food options.
Additionally, as part of Lendlease’s commitment to sustainability, various energy-efficient elements were incorporated into the renovations at Organ Mountains Inn. A variant refrigerant flow (VRF) system was installed in public spaces, which provides more precise and efficient heating and cooling by dividing a building into multiple zones, and new motion-detect LED ceiling lights were implemented throughout public spaces, offering greater energy efficiency and longevity. Furthermore, the hotel now features Energy Star appliances, contributing to a greener and more environmentally conscious operation.
“As the owner of Organ Mountains Inn, we were proud to approach this renovation with the goal of preserving the history of this iconic site while also ensuring that military travelers have access to modern rooms and amenities,” said Matthew Garrett, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Lendlease’s Privatized Army Lodging portfolio. “The inclusion of the hotel in IHG’s Historia Collection exemplifies our commitment to meeting the needs of our guests while honoring the legacy of our armed forces.”
The hotel is named after the awe-inspiring Organ Mountains–Desert Peaks National Monument, which was declared a national monument in 2014 and pays homage to the region’s fascinating heritage. The property was constructed in 1951 and served as Navy Officer Quarters before becoming the main building for Army Lodging. In 2011, Organ Mountains Inn joined the IHG Army Hotels portfolio and has since become a cherished destination for military travelers seeking comfort, convenience and a connection to the past.
The Historia Collection preserves the rich history of iconic sites while transforming them into modern hotels that offer elevated guest experiences. Within the IHG Army Hotels portfolio, the Historia Collection stands out as a tribute to our military heritage. Each hotel within this collection has been meticulously renovated to provide modern conveniences while maintaining original architectural charm and character.
“We are proud to brand this hotel as part of our distinguished Historia Collection,” said Chuck Sourbeer, Vice President of Operations for IHG Army Hotels. “The renovated spaces allow us to better serve our guests by delivering on our commitment of True Hospitality for Good along with our exceptional service and amenities.”
