BRISBANE: TFE Hotels, the Australian-based leader in high-quality apartment-style hotels, today announced the signing of the WMK-designed, Adina Apartment Hotel Chermside Brisbane, a new build hotel set to open in 2025.
The 148-key hotel will be in the heart of one of Brisbane’s most vibrant and fastest growing suburbs, Chermside, and aims to offer a perfectly located and modern experience for guests. Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant; café/bar, lobby lounge, a meeting room, gym, rainwater harvesting capabilities, and hotel car parking.
“The signing of Adina Chermside Brisbane is a significant milestone for TFE Hotels, providing an opportunity for us to expand our Adina footprint from two hotels to three in the powerhouse state of Queensland,” says TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick.
“Adina Chermside brings a renowned, international hotel brand to this important suburb, filling a gap in the accommodation market for the north side of Brisbane and the Prince Charles Hospital. Significantly it also represents an incredible opportunity to expand our footprint to maximise on the incredible decade of transformation that lies ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
The Queensland Government has identified Chermside as a key focal point for services outside the CBD and is emerging as one of Brisbane’s fastest growing suburbs with population figures set to almost double by 2036. Just 20 minutes’ drive north of the Brisbane city centre, it is unofficially recognised as the mini central business district of Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
“With such great access to public transport, incredible retail amenities and health and research services right here on our doorstep, this lifestyle hotel will cater to business and leisure travellers as well as longer stay hospital guests,” Sedgwick said.
Adina Chermside is owned by Limitless Developments, a South-East Queensland-based company with a track record that has delivered a diverse portfolio worth over $150 million, with a further $160 million in its pipeline. Owner, Nick Barr, brings more than 25 years of personal experience in Brisbane and his passion for progress is matched only by his interest in grassroot support and fundraising for the neighbourhoods he builds in. This year, Nick is competing in the Chain Reaction Challenge – a 1000km cycling event to raise funds for The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, the Common Good.
According to Mr Barr, the Adina Chermside Brisbane is poised to maximise on the strong economic and population growth currently being experienced in Chermside and the greater northern suburbs.
“We are a homegrown developer who understands Brisbane’s inner north intimately, and we’re confident that Adina Chermside will become the flagship hotel for this burgeoning part of the city,” Mr Barr said. “We are also excited to partner with TFE Hotels – an Australian-born company and experienced hotel operator and developer in their own right – to bring this future-thinking development to life.
“The Chermside area is transitioning, and we anticipate that the demand for quality corporate, travel and health-based travel accommodation needs in the area will only continue to increase in the next five to ten years,” he said.
Chermside is a major health and medical hub, notably home to the Prince Charles Hospital precinct servicing the medical needs of not only Brisbane but greater Queensland residents. As party of the State Government’s Queensland Capacity Expansion Program, The Prince Charles Hospital – which is adjacent to the Adina Chermside site – is confirmed to undertake a $300m expansion commencing in December 2024, which will add an additional 93 beds, and a further four-storey expansion on the existing building to be completed by 2028.
Chermside is also home to one of the largest shopping centres in the country – Westfield Chermside, providing shopaholics with plenty of retail therapy. It was the first shopping mall to be built in Australia and is as popular now as it was when it first opened to great fanfare back in 1957.
The destination enjoys excellent public transport connectivity, and beyond the busy Gympie Road also offers a great range of shops and stores to explore. Locally, visitors can also take advantage of a large network of parklands along beautiful Downfall Creek, with a system of bikeways and footpaths connecting various areas to experience at leisure, whilst greater Brisbane continues to enjoy a stellar reputation for its bustling dining and cultural scene.
Adina Chermside adds to the Adina network’s impressive network of 40 hotels across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Europe, including the Adina Apartment Hotel Anzac Square and Adina Apartment Hotel Brisbane located in the heart of the CBD.
When it opens in 2025, the hotel will join a new generation of Adina branded addresses that opened last year including the iconic Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge Melbourne (February 2023) and Adina Apartment Hotel Geneva (March 2023).
