Fiji’s award-winning luxury resort promotes Turukawa, who holds 3+ years of leadership experience with the property, to the new top management role
(VITI LEVU, FIJI; MARCH 14, 2024) — Five-star luxury resort, Nanuku Resort Fiji, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tomasi Turukawa to General Manager. A local born and raised in the Village of Navuevu, Turukawa brings his local knowledge and expertise–along with more than 17 years of hospitality experience–to his new role at the resort, which is operated by Storey Hotel Management Group. Previously Nanuku’s Director of Rooms and then Resort Manager, Turukawa will now be responsible for overseeing the hotel’s day-to-day operations, management, training, and guest satisfaction.
“Tomasi is a natural leader who has earned the respect of the Nanuku team and Storey leadership. We are thrilled to watch him succeed in this new position,” shares Laura Rose, Managing Partner of Storey Hotel Management Group. “His wealth of knowledge in the destination and culture of Fiji, as well as hospitality as a whole, will be a great benefit to his team and the future guests of Nanuku Resort.”
In his new role, Turukawa oversees the day-to-day operations of the property, including management of the hotel’s executive team and 200+ Fijian employees. Tomasi’s leadership is set to take the resort to new heights, while continuing to craft enchanting and authentic experiences for its guests. Turukawa’s exceptional leadership and strategic vision were clearly demonstrated throughout his previous position as Resort Manager, making him the ideal fit for this role.
“Nanuku Resort has been a special place for me these past few years, and I am honored to grow into and take this next step in my career at the hotel,” shares Turukawa. “I look forward to ensuring an elevated, one-of-a-kind island experience for our guests under my leadership and management.”
After studying to be a Tour Wholesaling and Resource Professional at the Fiji National University, Turukawa also held positions at Six Senses, Likuliku, Vomo, and Warwick Fiji, before joining Nanuku Resort Fiji in 2021. In his free time, Turukawa enjoys spear fishing, hiking in the mountains, watching rugby, and spending time with his family (and in particular, a home cooked chicken stew from his mum or wife). He is inspired by Thomas A. Edison, an American inventor and businessman, who once shared: “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is to always try just one more time.”
