Returning to Italy, The Hoxton’s expansion continues with Florence set to open later this year. Bringing new energy to the city and marking a new chapter for the late-Renaissance palazzo it inhabits, the hotel will have 161 bedrooms including a 3-bedroom house, spacious lobby, an Italian Riviera-inspired restaurant, sprawling courtyard, cosy late night wine bar, and dedicated event spaces. Located in the historical centre of Florence, The Hoxton is surrounded by cobblestone streets filled with galleries, boutique and bakeries. Florence’s world-famous landmarks such as the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery are within walking distance, and Fortezza da Basso, the home of Pitti Uomo, is a short 10-minute stroll away.

The hotel is split across two buildings: a 16th century palazzo with its original facade and impressive vaulted arcade, and a 1980s Andrea Branzi-designed building, that serves as a modernist juxtaposition, with its timber slatted facade and minimal, linear architecture. The buildings are connected by an open-air courtyard with a cascading fountain and landscaped gardens that serve as an outdoor dining space for the restaurant. The hotel’s bedrooms are split across the two buildings with unique design schemes to reflect each. Embracing the buildings’ original architecture: some rooms boast views of the Duomo, others have sumptuous outdoor bathtubs or landscaped terraces whilst others are split across two levels with a spacious lounge and sweeping spiral staircase. In addition, Florence will have a ‘House’ category: a self-contained three-bedroom apartment with its own kitchen, lounge and shaded private courtyard. House is an all-new category for the brand that will also feature at The Hoxton, Edinburgh.

The ground floor comprises an open-door lobby with comfy seating, cosy corners, and coffee counter, where guests and locals can swing by for quick espressos and classic cocktails. Alassio, an Italian restaurant with a focus on fresh seafood and holiday-inspired dishes, is spread across an intimate dining room, vaulted winter garden and courtyard, with a lively atmosphere, focus on local produce, and a menu that will transport you to the Italian Riviera. Enoteca Violetta, a cosy wine bar offers an exciting collection of European wines in a relaxed and informal setting.

Two dedicated event spaces offer contrasting atmospheres to suit all occasions and events. A moody vaulted wine cellar (90 sqm) in the basement has two connecting rooms and a feature bar. Up top, a shaded rooftop terrace (130 sqm) has its own bar and panoramic views across the city. The courtyard will also be available for private hire, a striking open-air space for special events, such as fashion shows and weddings.
