SONOMA, CALIF. (October 16, 2024) – MacArthur Place Hotel & Spa, a 69-room luxury boutique hotel, announces the appointment of Eric Piacentine as Executive Chef. In this role, Chef Eric will oversee all culinary operations and menu curation for the property’s three culinary concepts — Layla, the dining centerpiece of the hotel, The Bar at MacArthur and The Porch, a marketplace featuring local purveyors — weddings and social events, poolside dining, and the hotel’s in-room dining program. With over 20 years of industry experience including work at world-class resorts and up-scale restaurants, Chef Eric brings a wealth of experience to the Northern California region and a unique blend of creative flair and passion for food to further elevate the MacArthur Place culinary experience.

“We are delighted to welcome Chef Eric to MacArthur Place, where his experience and passion will make him a crucial member and leader of our culinary team.” shares General Manager, Justin Wilson. “His exceptional culinary talent and dedication to creating innovative dining experiences perfectly align with our commitment to providing our guests with a unique farm-fresh experience.”

Originally from Wisconsin, Chef Eric Piacentine began his culinary career working in his parent’s bakery in Milwaukee, where he learned the importance of dedication to upholding high standards of quality product and respecting employees, colleagues and patrons alike. He later attended the Florida Culinary Institute, where he obtained an Occupational Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. Since then he has been at the helm and made significant contributions to renowned establishments such as The Sea Ranch Lodge, Big Sur Bakery & Restaurant and Bernardus Lodge & Spa. Chef Eric aims to lead the team at MacArthur Place by teaching, learning, building, creating and bringing the already close knit community even closer.  In his free time, he enjoys hiking, foraging for wild mushrooms, skiing, and cooking a cozy meal with friends and family.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the incredible team at the beautiful and historic MacArthur Place,” shares Chef Eric Piacentine. “I’ve long admired their commitment to showcasing the best of Sonoma County, and I’m eager to collaborate with the talented team to create innovative and memorable dining experiences for our guests.”

MacArthur Place’s enhanced culinary and beverage programming is bolstered by two locally colonized bee apiaries in partnership with Marin Coastal Bee Co., with honey produced from each hive showcased across the six-acre property’s guest programming and culinary outlets. Additionally, a thriving Chef’s Garden boasts seasonal vegetables, flowers, micro-greens, herbs, and more — used as ingredients and garnishes at Layla and The Bar at MacArthur.
