July 24–Hotels throughout South Florida posted strong results for June as occupancy and rates climbed compared to a year ago.
In Miami-Dade, hotels were about 74 percent full in June, a year-over-year increase of 2 percentage points, according to data released this week by Smith Travel Research. Average rates increased almost 4 percent to nearly $141 a night, and per-room revenue reached $104.40, up 6 percent.
Broward hotels reported 71 percent occupancy, an increase of 6.4 percentage points compared to June of 2012. Rates ticked up almost 3 percent to $100 a night and revenue per available room jumped 9.5 percent to $71.03.
In the Florida Keys, hotels were nearly 82 percent full, an uptick of almost 3 percentage points. Rates leapt more than 9 percent to $206.46, and per-room revenue jumped to more than $169, a 12.6 percent increase.
