Nov. 07–NEW ALBANY — The former Holiday Inn hotels in Clarksville and New Albany are under new franchise agreements.
The Holiday Inn at 411 W. Spring St., New Albany, will be the Best Western Plus Louisville West, as the official changeover is slated for Monday.
“We have a few more amenities than a standard Best Western,” said Monica P’Pool, general manager of the hotel.
The national company now features three different categories of hotels from the standard Best Western to Plus and Premier establishments.
The New Albany location features 135 rooms including four jacuzzi suites. The owner of the building is the same, and has embarked on a makeover of the structure that will total more than $1.2 million.
The interior renovations have already been mostly completed, as each guest room has new paint and carpet and upgrades have been made to the bathrooms throughout the facility.
New art work has been installed and lighting replaced in the hotel.
“I’m told by everyone who walks into the hotel who’s been here before that they just can’t believe the difference,” P’Pool said.
More than $400,000 in exterior improvements are planned for the Best Western in the spring.
Holiday Inn Lakeview, Clarksville, located at 505 Marriott Drive, is now the Clarion Hotel Louisville North.
Attempts to reach officials with Clarion and the hotel’s parent company, Choice Hotels, for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.
An employee who answered the telephone at the hotel said ownership of the building hasn’t changed, but confirmed Clarion is the new hotel franchise.
