May 28–The owners of a local hotel confirmed they purchased franchise rights for a new hotel in the region.
Riverview Holdings, LLC expects to build the hotel under the Choice brand.
Riverview Holdings, LLC is owned by three managing partners — Ben Mastin, Fred Eidson and Bob Greene. The trio’s most notable project is its signature hotel, the Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites in Elkin.
“We will build a new Choice hotel in the area,” said Ben Mastin of Riverview Holdings, LLC. “I expect that it will be a 96-room hotel…It’s going to be a Comfort Inn and Suites.”
According to Mastin, the five-floor hotel will feature all suites. The facility will have twice the meeting space compared to the Fairfield Inn and Suites hotel. The hotel will feature a bar, a restaurant, an indoor spa, an expanded outdoor patio and an exterior swimming pool.
Mastin said the company opted to proceed with its own architectural design of the upcoming hotel over Choice blueprints. According to Mastin, the company took the same route with the construction of the Fairfield Inn and Suites.
“It allows us to be part of the design process. I don’t want a hotel for today. I want the hotel to be cutting edge for ones who will use it tomorrow,” said Mastin.
Mastin said he could not confirm construction costs until the architectural designs are complete. “That can take a process of up to six months,” he said.
Mastin said the company had not decided if the hotel would be built in Elkin or in Jonesville. However, when pressed, Mastin confirmed Riverview Holdings, LLC has placed an offer on property near CC Camp Road in Elkin close to the Interstate 77 exit.
