Laura Weldon has accepted the position of Director of Food & Beverage at Houston’s Hotel ICON, a 135-room Marriott Autograph Collection property located in the sought after downtown/Market Street historic district. In this role, Weldon now oversees culinary operations for the landmark hotel’s LINE & LARIAT restaurant, L&L Bar, room service and 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Prior to joining Hotel ICON, Weldon spent the majority of her career with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. Most recently, she was the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage for the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch, ranked among the top 20 in food and beverage companywide. During this time, Weldon was responsible for the coaching and training of managers and department heads and earned Manager of the Quarter recognition in 2013.
From 2008 until 2012, Weldon was employed by the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa near Austin, TX. She joined the property as Food & Beverage Manager – Outlets and was later promoted to Director of Banquets & Convention Services, where she managed a staff of 80 associates in a department with more than $10-million in revenues.
Weldon is a former Club Managers Association of America president, conference delegate and scholarship winner; National Restaurant Association scholarship winner and conference delegate; and American Hotel and Lodging Association scholarship winner and conference delegate. She is ServSafe and TABC Certified.
