EXETER, New Hampshire (November 7, 2014): Hay Creek Hotels announced today that the company has been selected to manage a new upscale, independent hotel in Somerville, MA, as well as assist in its development. In collaboration with commercial developers, Lou Makrigiannis and Young Construction, the upscale hotel project will break ground in the spring of 2015.
The 45 room independent full service hotel will be located at 371 Beacon Street, on the Somerville, Cambridge border, just three blocks from the bustling Porter Square area. The location is a short walk to the campuses of both Leslie and Harvard Universities. The hotel is also located near the heavily travelled Porter Square MBTA Station, providing guests with easy access to businesses and attractions in Cambridge and downtown Boston.
“The new hotel will be a welcome addition to Somerville,” stated Norman MacLeod, founder and President of Hay Creek Hotels. “Somerville is a diverse mix of young single residents, students and business people; the city is ideal for a small upscale independent hotel and high quality authentic bistro style restaurant and bar” he added.
Somerville currently has the highest population of residents between 25 and 35 years old the United States, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. The city is home to numerous micro-breweries, urban cafes and notable Chef owned and operated restaurants.
The yet to be named hotel will feature 45 oversized guest rooms and suites, small meeting facilities for business and social functions and a street level restaurant and bar that will cater to those in the bustling Porter Square and Leslie University campus neighborhoods. “Our goal is to bring a fresh, new independent hotel and an exciting and accessible restaurant that embodies the vibrant spirit and soul of the area” MacLeod continued.
The new hotel will be a “sister” property to the Porter Square Hotel, which will also be operated by Hay Creek when it opens in the spring of 2015.
