COSTA MESA, California, Dec. 8, 2014 – A $20 million renovation of the 393 guestrooms at The Westin South Coast Plaza, considered to be Orange County’s landmark hotel, is under way.
Included in the plans for all of the hotel’s guestrooms are new carpeting and wall finishes, crown molding, larger flat screens televisions, new Westin Heavenly beds, replacement of all hard and soft goods, and a complete redo/upgrade of bathrooms. The renovations will be completed by April 22.
“We are re-imagining our guestrooms to make them warm and inviting as another step towards achieving the goal of giving guests the feel of a luxurious AAA Five Diamond-style property,” says Kevin Schiller, area director of sales and marketing for Los Angeles. He said that approximately $10 million more will be spent in 2016 on renovations primarily to the hotel’s meeting spaces. The hotel has an annual occupancy of more than 80 percent and an average of 1,250 guests weekly.
Earlier this year, the hotel launched its state-of-the-art new Tangent™ at Westin functional workspace that utilizes smart technology and innovative design, making it easier for them to connect with their colleagues across the table or around the globe.
Two thousand fourteen also marked the fourth year in a row the hotel has met the stringent Green SealTM Standard GS-33 based on its waste minimization, water and energy efficiency, hazardous substance handling, and having an environmental purchasing policy.
The Westin South Coast Plaza is the only premiere Westin property in the county. The luxury hotel features 33,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space that can accommodate up to 600 participants banquet style. The unique Terrace Level offers a relaxing outdoor space ideal for wedding and gala events, plus an outdoor gazebo specifically designed for wedding ceremonies and themed events.
The hotel’s iconic Waterfall Terrace features a backdrop of falling water from the Neptune Water Spouts, and was recently redesigned to accommodate up to 175 people for wedding ceremonies and other receptions, and up to 120 for a unique outdoor dining experience.
