HAMILTON, BERMUDA – April 16, 2015 — Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, Bermuda’s iconic harbor side resort, will debut Phase Two of its more than $90 million renovation. With completion expected next month, Phase Two features Marcus’, a new harbor side restaurant from celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson; renovation of guestrooms and suites in the Gazebo wing of the hotel; re-imagining of the hotel’s extensive grounds and a new lobby bar and restaurant, Crown & Anchor. In addition, a Princess Beach Club will open at one of the island’s most picturesque spots, South Beaches.
“This renovation project is the most exciting in the 130 year history of the hotel,” said Allan Federer, general manager of Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. “We were delighted to hear the positive feedback from guests and local residents about Phase One. The next part of the project literally changes the landscape of Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and will make it the premier hotel destination on the island. With the recent announcement of the 2017 America’s Cup coming to Bermuda, this is an exciting time for both the hotel and the destination.”
The renovation of the 88 guestrooms and suites in the Gazebo Wing includes all new furniture, fixtures and equipment, and upgraded wireless internet and audio visual features. The guestrooms and suites feature a sophisticated color palette inspired by the island. Cream colored hues are complemented by energizing splashes of color while works of art by modern Bermudian artists adorn the walls. Rich upholstery, dark woods and luxurious finishes complete the effect. Luxury bathrooms will be designed with marble tile and walk-in rain showers.
Opening on May 27, 2015, is Marcus’, the signature restaurant from renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson. Located in the former Gazebo Room, the restaurant will feature an open kitchen complete with wood burning barbeque pit, a central bar, and a new 1,500-square-foot outdoor terrace overlooking the hotel’s marina. The menu will reflect Chef Samuelsson’s signature international style while incorporating the flavors and culture of Bermuda.
In addition to the guestrooms and restaurant, the hotel’s extensive grounds will be re-imagined and re-designed to incorporate the harbor setting in a more compelling way. The landscape will be dropped down five feet to allow for breathtaking harbor views. Fire pits and seating areas in the gardens adorned with plants and flowers will enhance the courtyard, and new lounge-style furniture will be added to create a more contemporary feeling in the outdoor space. An area for entertainment and private functions has been designed for the end of the courtyard, overlooking Hamilton Harbor.
The hotel’s lobby restaurant will also be renovated and re-opened as Crown & Anchor, featuring indoor and outdoor seating. The new restaurant and lounge will offer, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
This summer Hamilton Princess & Beach Club guests will experience the Princess Beach Club on the island’s dramatic South Shore where guests can lounge, swim or snorkel. In addition, a beach bar/restaurant will be available with a menu developed by Marcus Samuelsson, as well as dressing rooms and a wide range of water sports including diving, jet skis, paddle boards or just a water canon to cool off. A fleet of luxury vans will run continually throughout the season to provide easy access to the beach club.
