Extensive Transformation Includes Makeover of the Atrium, Meeting Space and All Guest Rooms
DALLAS (April 28, 2015) – StepStone Hospitality today announced the completion of an extensive renovation for the Sheraton DFW Airport. The hotel is located at 4440 West John Carpenter Freeway in Irving, Texas. StepStone, a premier hotel management company, took over management of the hotel last year. Stratford Hospitality serves as the asset manager.
The $7 million project includes refurbishing the hotel’s 302 guest rooms with new carpet, wall coverings, artwork and a fiber optic system that offers 75 channels of high-definition television. Guestroom bathrooms were completely updated as well.
The hotel also has a newly expanded and redesigned Club Lounge, which serves Starwood Preferred Platinum and Club Level guests. Located on the top floor, the lounge offers extraordinary panoramic views of DFW Airport and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week serving complimentary breakfast, with appetizers, beer and wine available in the evening.
According to General Manager Jason Tyson, the centerpiece of the renovation is a completely redone atrium. A new lobby lounge, called Whiskey Tango, features live entertainment on select evenings from some of the region’s most talented musicians and multiple 80-inch televisions throughout, which creates an exciting social hub for hotel guests and locals alike.
“Both visitors and people from the community tell us they love what we’ve done,” said Tyson. “This is not your typical airport hotel. We wanted to pleasantly surprise our guests and based on the feedback we’re receiving, we’ve succeeded!”
Whiskey Tango serves Starbucks coffee and pastries in the morning, with salads, shareable plates and a full-service bar available later in the day. Food and beverage is focused on locally produced craft beers and distilled spirits as well as menu items that are locally inspired. The atrium also offers the new Link@Sheraton where guests can enjoy complimentary use of computers and printers. The hotel provides wireless Internet throughout, including guest rooms, for no charge.
Located opposite the atrium is Local Texas Tap & Kitchen, a taproom and sports bar featuring multiple television screens, pool tables and foosball.
“Local is open for special sports event viewing and beer tastings and has become a favorite of meeting and party planners wanting to hold a big or small gathering in a unique and fun environment,” said Tyson.
The hotel’s 25,000 sq. ft. of meeting space has also been redone with new carpet, wall coverings, table settings and furniture. Additional hotel amenities include a heated outdoor pool and the new 24-hour Sheraton Fitness Center which is furnished with the latest exercise equipment.
“We’re very proud of our team and the great job they did on the renovation,” said Thomas Russo, CEO, StepStone Hospitality. “The hotel offers an environment that is popular with overnight guests as well as those from the local area. It is exciting to be part of the rebirth of this hotel in the heart of the vibrant Dallas-Fort Worth area.”
The Sheraton DFW Airport Hotel is located in the nerve center of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It offers a complimentary shuttle to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, which is just minutes away. Nearby Texas-style attractions include the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park; Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the largest water park in the Southwest; and the Texas Motor Speedway.
