Newton, MA (May 6, 2014) – The Sonesta Collection has announced the official launch of Sonesta ES Suites, an extended stay brand, as well as refreshed U.S. hotels and resorts in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Hilton Head Island, Houston and Philadelphia, with plans for New Orleans to be completed in 2015. More than $250 million was invested in upgrades and redesigns which aim to deliver a reimagined guest experience that is centered on a brand commitment to provide guests with more than just a place to stay.
Sonesta ES Suites is a surprisingly different take on the extended stay hotel. Designed to be as flexible as the needs of guests, each of the new residence-style Sonesta ES Suites feature oversized accommodations, adaptable work areas and common spaces, as well as a friendly, attentive staff that aim to make guests feel relaxed and comfortable.
There is no typical Sonesta. Each full service property is generously appointed with locally inspired design, food and beverage. The Sonesta portfolio is diverse and distinctive; just as individual as its guests. Houston’s place in the history of space exploration subtly influences the property there, while Atlanta, Philadelphia and Boston deftly reflect those cities’ museum and art culture with galleries and art events in the hotels. Guests can experience the best of New Orleans from coffee to cuisine to music without leaving the hotel with amenities like Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse.
Hotels are now more than just a place to sleep. Travelers today use hotels as a casual social hub, a meeting spot, collaboration space or work space, and that is often just the lobby. Sonesta has woven a bold and independent minded aesthetic into the reimagination of the public and private spaces, and overall experience for all of its hotels/brands. Bright, vibrant tones brighten the mood, provide light and airy spaces and inspire creativity; while flexibility and connectivity have been emphasized in the physical features. Whether a visit is for business or pleasure, Sonesta amenities, services and attentive staff aim to exceed individual guest’s needs.
“At Sonesta, we embrace a sense of place in each of our hotels. From locally inspired décor and seasonally sourced ingredients for menus, to employees who embody our culture of caring with support of the local community, we’re proud to provide our guests with more than just a place to stay, ” said Carlos Flores, President & Chief Executive Officer of Sonesta International Hotels Corporation. “I’m really excited to welcome back our long term guests and especially for the guests that will experience Sonesta for the first time at our newly reimagined hotels.”

Integrity, authenticity, quality and concern are the four core principles that support Sonesta’s Culture of Caring brand pillar, which shapes the experience of every guest, employee, and colleague. Sonesta aspires to be more than just a hotel, but a member of the communities they serve – greeting guests, locals and business counterparts with the same spirit of warmth and welcoming. Local management is encouraged to practice their own entrepreneurial and community spirit in a way that serves their home town. Whether hosting a fund raiser for a local charity, supporting the local art scene, or giving back in other ways, Sonesta’s Culture of Caring keeps on giving.
While you’ll find different amenities, designs, concepts, etc. reflecting the local influence at each Sonesta property, the same level of authentic hospitality and warm, inviting staff can be found in every hotel or resort destination.
Sonesta is thoughtfully adding new hotels each year, taking great consideration in seeking out ways to expand on the collection without compromising its principles and its commitment to authenticity and genuine hospitality.
