University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management will honor Nassetta on October 21, 2015
August 25, 2015 – As president and CEO of Hilton Worldwide, Christopher J. Nassetta has made a lasting and profound impact on the hospitality industry and one of the world’s most recognizable hotel brands.
Those accomplishments and contributions will be celebrated on October 21, 2015, when Nassetta is inducted into the Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. This globally promoted event will also include the opening of an exhibit of the Hospitality Industry Archives, which are housed at Hilton College, commemorating the Hilton legacy and its century-long influence on the industry.
In his current role, Nassetta oversees all 12 brands of Hilton Worldwide, comprised of more than 4,400 hotels, resorts and timeshare properties in 97 countries and territories.
Before taking the helm at Hilton, Nassetta spent 12 years with Host Hotels & Resorts, first as an executive vice president, then COO and eventually as president and CEO. His leadership strategy is focused primarily on creating and maintaining a strong company culture—something that has served him well throughout his entire career, which also included leadership positions at Bailey Capital Corporation and The Oliver Carr Company.
The Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor, celebrating its 20th anniversary, was created to recognize industry leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to American and international business and society. Each year, a team of student managers plans and executes an induction ceremony, dinner and reception for the latest honoree. Nassetta is the Hall of Honor’s 67th inductee.
The student managers also host a series of industry-related “Think Tanks,” featuring special guest panelists to give the entire student body a chance to network and learn from a wide variety of hospitality experts. This year’s sessions will culminate with a round-table discussion with Nassetta to support Hilton Worldwide’s commitment to youth and coincide with Hilton’s Global Month of Service.
Proceeds from this year’s event will support Hilton College’s Hospitality Without Borders Endowment, which will provide life-changing opportunities for young people pursuing careers in hospitality.
