16 different countries participated in the digital education event

AUSTIN, TEXAS (March 31, 2016) – A total of 254 registrants representing 16 countries joined Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) for the organization’s first Digital Learning Day on March 23, 2016. The completely online event offered a full day of digital education programming completely free of charge for anyone who wanted to participate.

"HFTP’s first Digital Learning Day event was a huge success with participation from 16 different countries,” said HFTP CEO Frank Wolfe, CAE. “The well-rounded Digital Learning Day event featured speakers with a range of topics to interest industry professionals from across the globe.”

Digital Learning Day featured four educational webinars presented by industry experts. The day progressed as follows:

  • "Business Ethics: Friend or Foe? Help or a Hindrance? Important for Success?" — Phillip E. Flora, CIA, CISA, CFE, CCSA, principal and managing member of FloBiz & Associates, LLC discussed real life examples of ethical dilemmas and methods to measure an organization's ethical culture.
  • "Hotel Technology and Cybersecurity: Do's and Don'ts for Hotels and Guests" — Agnes DeFranco, Ed.D., CHAE and Cristian Morosan, Ph.D. of the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management at the University of Houston explored the implications of hotel guest technologies.
  • "Active Shooters: New Trends and New Solutions" — Timothy A. Dimoff, founder and president of SACS Consulting & Investigative Services Inc., explained new strategies such as environmental design, technology, communication, law enforcement response and informative action as the new procedures to increase the odds of survival for those under attack.
  • "LinkedIn: How to and How NOT to Utilize" — Danny Goldberg, CPA, CIA, CISA, founder of GoldRSD, discussed the importance of the most prominent professional social networking site.

All sessions presented as part of HFTP's Digital Learning Day were eligible for continuing education credits and were free of charge to all who registered. HFTP is well known for its wide array of webinar programming. HFTP members enjoy 24/7 access to the webinar archives which date back to 2006 and new webinars are held each month.
