Scarab Group First to Leverage Water, Energy and Chemical Savings of Xeros Laundry Solution in Caribbean
MANCHESTER, NH–(Marketwired – June 15, 2016) – Xeros, the inventor of an ultra-low water laundry system, announced today that it has signed a a $500,000 US deal with commercial launderer Scarab Group in St. Thomas for its award-winning polymer bead cleaning laundry system.
In one of the largest laundry deals on St. Thomas this year, the Scarab Group replaced all of their conventional washers with Xeros laundry systems to reduce their water and energy costs without sacrificing the quality of service to their luxury hotel customers. Based in St. Thomas, the sustainably focused Scarab Group provides laundry services to the majority of hotels across the island.
Caribbean businesses have been implementing various measures to control the use of water as the region experiences a prolonged drought. The Xeros laundry system which dramatically reduces water, energy, and detergent consumption is a proven solution to reduce water and energy use for commercial launderers in the Caribbean.
"After our initial Xeros laundry system install at our facility in St. Thomas, we were so impressed with the exceptional cleaning results and water reduction we replaced all our machines with Xeros low water systems," said Bruce Devon, owner of Scarab Group. "Linen quality and cleanliness is essential for our customers and with Xeros we are able to provide sparkling clean linens while simultaneously reducing our ecological footprint."
The Xeros laundry system replaces up to 80% of the water with polymer beads that gently massage textiles to provide superior cleaning results as compared to conventional aqueous washing methods. By combining the beads' molecular structure with a proprietary detergent solution, dirt from soiled items is attracted and absorbed by the beads, producing cleaner results in ambient water. The reusable beads have a lifespan of hundreds of washes before being collected and recycled. The patented, award-winning system uses 80% less water, up to 50% less energy, and approximately 50% less detergent than traditional systems.
"The Scarab Group partnership demonstrates the momentum of the Xeros technology. The remarkable outcomes of Scarab Group's first Caribbean install resulted in the company supplanting its remaining conventional machines with Xeros," said Joe Bazzinotti, General Manager, Senior Vice President, Xeros. "The Xeros system delivers reduced water use and improves customer satisfaction through a superior cleaning process. With this win-win value proposition, we are excited about the potential for continued growth throughout the region and aim to become the defacto standard for eco-friendly washing systems in the Caribbean."
