GBTA study shows that today's travelers want in-room charging options and more USBs; Kube Clock powers up to six mobile devices simultaneously and features dual USBs

[Jericho, NYOctober 4, 2016]—A new study released last month from the GBTA Foundation, the education and research arm of the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), shows that business travelers in the U.S. and Canada want technology amenities that “most hotels do not currently offer.” Hotel Technology Study: How Do North America-Based Business Travelers Use and Feel about Hotel Technology? revealed that 35 percent of business travelers want more regular outlets and USB outlets, and 32 percent want in-room chargers for smartphones and/or laptops. The Kube Clock™ for guestrooms and the Kube 5 Portable for public spaces from Kube Systems is meeting these business traveler demands, while the soon-to-be-released Kube Essentials will make mobile device and laptop charging available in 2017.

“While in-room mobile device charging has infiltrated the hospitality market for more than a decade, the technology to support all mobile devices on the market – including smartphones, tablets, cameras, wearable technologies, and even laptops – is relatively new,” said David Weinstein, Kube Systems Vice President. “As guests continue to bring two or three devices while they travel, hotels need to be able to support these charging demands. Supplying a charging station that only powers one type of mobile device is detrimental to customer satisfaction. Our charging solutions power ALL types of mobile devices simultaneously using the latest wired and wireless technologies.”

In a prepared statement about this study, GBTA Foundation Director of Research Monica Sanchez said: “In the future, hotels could invest in innovative new technologies, but should also continue to focus on improving existing amenities.” Kube Systems does just that.

“Kube Systems understands that hoteliers don’t want to reinvest in new equipment each time a global charging standard changes,” Weinstein said. “Therefore, we protect the owners’ investment by equipping each Kube (Clock, Portable and Essentials) with replaceable and upgradeable modular cables that keep these units from becoming obsolete. By making the hardware is fully upgradable, we are future-proofing hoteliers’ investments.”

Showcasing Solutions Business Travelers Demand Next month at HX: The Hotel Experience (to be held November 13 to 15 at the Jacob K. Javitz Convention Center in New York), hoteliers can see Kube solutions first hand in Booth #2654. To ensure that guests never run out of power in guestrooms, hoteliers need to experience Kube Clock – named “Best Technology Product 2016” at HIConnect. Compatible with all iPhone/iPad/iPod/Android phones and tablets, Kube Clocks come with or without Qi wireless charging. Each Kube Clock can charge up to six mobile devices simultaneously and features built-in iPhone and Micro USB cables, along with a single-day intuitive alarm clock, a high quality Bluetooth speaker, and two additional auto-sensing USB ports.

When available in February, the new Kube Essentials will also power ALL mobile electronics in guestrooms PLUS feature an AC output so guests can charge laptops. The new unit will combine design versatility and powering capability with a small footprint and even smaller price point. The Kube Essentials prototype unveiled at HITEC in June has been modified and a new unveiling will take place at HX.

Also very popular with business travelers is the Kube 5 portable charging system for public areas and meeting spaces. Now available at a lower price point, Kube 5 comes as a set of five Kubes and a recharging tray. Each of the five portable charging Kubes features three built-in connectors, two USB ports and comes with Qi wireless charging. Kubes can be strategically placed in high-traffic public areas or they can be made available individually to guests.
