GAINESVILLE – Scarlett Hotel Group (SHG) has acquired the Marriott SpringHill Suites in Gainesville at the University of Florida.
The upscale 126 guestroom all-suite hotel is situated in the heart of Gainesville, FL, home of the top rated University of Florida and Shands Hospital (University of Florida Health). It is located directly across from Butler Plaza, the largest retail power center in Florida with more than 1 million square feet of space and more than 100 tenants. The hotel is also proximate to Celebration Pointe, a lifestyle boutique retail center with Class-A office and multifamily. The recently renovated property includes a pool, breakfast area, fitness center, and an outdoor patio.
“We’re thrilled to have acquired our second Marriott property in Florida in the robust and thriving university driven market of Gainesville,” said Zio Pekovic, a principal with SHG. The acquisition marks SHG’s second Marriott acquisition in Florida in the past 7 months. “As a follow up to our acquisition of the Residence Inn in Clearwater, we’re actively pursuing upscale limited-service brands throughout the Midwest and Southeast,” said Rob Sadoff with the acquisition and development division of SHG. Andrew Scarlett, who oversees the management division, added “In addition to all of the positives noted, we are a people based organization and we are so thrilled to have this incredible team joining us.”
SHG continues to pursue both acquisition and third party management opportunities that are strategically aligned with it’s focus of cultivating the next generation of hospitality leaders.
