CHARLOTTE, N.C.–May 4, 2017–Today the Omni Charlotte Hotel, an iconic property located in the heart of the city’s financial district, on the corner of South College and East Trade Streets, announced plans for a $26 million transformation that will completely reimagine the hotel into a contemporary lifestyle destination.

Taking inspiration from the discovery of the 17–pound gold nugget and the city’s reputation as a top banking center, the hotel’s design theme revolves around Charlotte’s unique history with precious metals. The hotel’s spaces, from the exterior porte cochère down to the artwork in the guest rooms, will be refreshed with custom fabrics and finishes imbued with rich gold and silver tones, culminating in a cohesive design that is timeless, sophisticated and evokes impeccably sophisticated luxury.

“Once the transformation is complete, the Omni Charlotte Hotel will be a one-of-a-kind destination for leisure and business travelers, as well as meeting attendees,” said David Palumbo, general manager for the Omni Charlotte Hotel. “The property will feature a sleek new exterior, modern lobby experience, cosmopolitan guest rooms and suites, and an exclusive rooftop pool deck and bar space that will soon become the city’s go-to urban oasis.”

Beginning the hotel’s transformation are its 374 guest rooms and suites which will all feature a built-in custom casegoods, a new coffee experience featuring a modular bar built into the countertop and an oversized plush sofa running along the length of the wall near the window for guests to enjoy the sights of the city. Each room has a color palette that is subtle and sophisticated with pops of pattern and texture. The artwork ties back to the overall concept with large gold discs representing the precious metals. Additionally, the bathrooms are receiving a complete redesign with new vanities and showers.

Anchoring the multimillion dollar hotel transformation is the complete redesign of the rooftop pool deck. Upon completion, the contemporary new area will add nearly 3,000 additional square feet of space, including a stylish new bar and grill featuring poolside favorites. The space will also feature double-sided LED television screens, each 22 feet wide by 12 feet high, with remarkable resolution that can be seen from EpiCentre, the surrounding area of businesses and entertainment venues including a unique combination of cafés, restaurants, late night spots and retail shops. With these screens being among the largest in the city, the pool bar will be the destination of choice for any and all sports and entertainment happenings in the city. The seasonal pool deck will be ideal for patrons looking for the perfect retreat to enjoy a hand-crafted beverage or small bites, catch live entertainment or watch sporting events.

The Omni Charlotte Hotel’s transformation will also open the front exterior wall to allow for more transparent and natural light to reach the arrival drive upon entry to the property. The entry’s façade will feature an expansive glass exterior, as well as linear panels on the ceiling with a reflective metal wall serving as the focal point, giving the hotel a more prominent street presence, while opening it up for a more welcoming arrival experience.

Upon entering the hotel lobby, guests will immediately notice the luxury enhancements made to the property including gleaming flooring, burnished metal wall finishes and a new guest registration. Precious metals serve as inspiration for the finishes used in the cocktail tables, furniture and other lobby fixtures, all providing a sense of unassuming luxury. Because of meticulous and thoughtful planning, the whole registration and check-in process has been revamped allowing guests to have a more seamless and pleasant check-in experience.

Trade Restaurant & Bar will also undergo a major transformation featuring an expanded bar that now opens up into the lobby, providing guests direct access to the new space. The restaurant will feature new modern seating, tables, carpet and decorative lighting, as well as a blue, ivory and amber color palette. It will also feature a menu with hand-selected small bites and street food favorites.

Located on the 14th floor, the exclusive club lounge has also been enhanced with new counter bars with views of the Charlotte skyline. It will serve as an area for guests to start their day with complimentary breakfast and have a cocktail from its top shelf bar and appetizers after a long day.
