New York (NY) June 30, 2017 – Today, June 30, marks both the Tschuggen Grand Hotel’s summer opening, and the final season under general management of eight-year veteran at the property, Leo Maissen. Maissen will be promoted to Chief Development Officer of the Tschuggen Hotel Group and will be succeeded by Stefan Noll in the autumn, beginning September 1, 2017.
Of the new senior management position, based in Zurich, Maissen shared, “I am delighted that, in my new role, I will be able to commit myself more fully to strategic challenges and further product development across our whole hotel group.” He continued "creative ideas are essential to the further development of our group and will allow us to remain at the top of the Swiss luxury hotel sector."
Creative ideas are a speciality of Maissen's. Kicking off his final season as General Manager will be the Tour de Swiss. From June 30-July 2, 2017, a biking tour stretching nearly 112 miles, and spanning altitudes of approximately a mile and a half between the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa, and the Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona will welcome this summer’s active guests.
Also under Maissen’s guidance, the property has implemented various unique seasonal amenities, such as the popular igloo restaurant in the winter, and the horseback riding, teepee overnight excursion by Lake Schwesilee, which will be implemented for the second time this summer.
As for the future, the soon to be new General Manager Noll shares, “I am very excited about my new position as General Manager of the Tschuggen Grand Hotel and am looking forward to continuing to write the success story of the hotel with my new team.”
Mr. Noll is currently Executive Assistant Manager of the Badrutt's Palace Hotel in St. Moritz. From September 1, the 40-year-old will manage the five-star Tschuggen Grand Hotel, home to the famous Tschuggen Bergoase spa, designed by Mario Botta and one Michelin-starred La Vetta restaurant.
Born in Germany, Noll was previously responsible for the entire pre-opening phase of the Hotel Chedi in Andermatt. Prior to that, he was General Manager of the two Chedi hotels in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and the Chedi Club in Ubud on Bali. Earlier roles in his career were in luxury hotels such as The Legian in Bali, The Leela in Goa and the Mandarin-Oriental in London. Noll is married with a four-year-old son. He enjoys sporting activities in his free time.
