Leesburg, Virginia, July, 2017 … The National Conference Center, the award-winning property in Leesburg, Virginia, was recently awarded six meeting and tourism awards for 2017. The National’s Chief Wine Officer, Mary Watson-Delauder, has received the Meetings Trendsetter Award in the educator category from Meetings Today, a leading national meetings magazine. Meetings Trendsetters featured forward-thinking planning professionals, educators and suppliers within the meetings industry. The National was also awarded the Smart Star Award in the conference center category by Smart Meetings magazine, also one of the leading meetings publications nationally.
The National Conference Center has won three tourism awards presented by Visit Loudoun, the destination marketing organization for Loudoun County, Virginia. The Visit Loudoun Tourism Awards Program showcased the work, service, creativity, and contributions of individuals and organizations as they relate to advancing tourism. The National received the following awards:
- Ambassador Tourism Award: Jamil Chaudhry, Bellman for The National (pictured left above)
- Tourism Action Award: National Conference Center Project Search Initiative – accepted by Helen Kendall (pictured middle above)
- Tourism Branding, Marketing or Promotional Campaign of the Year: Go Big Campaign, National Conference Center – accepted by Chuck Ocheltree, Chief Marketing Officer (pictured right above)
“My team and I are honored to receive these prestigious awards and are proud to be in such good company with phenomenal hospitality brands that serve our industry,” said Geoff Lawson, Vice President and General Manager of The National Conference Center.
The National has also received the Partner of the Year award from the Loudoun County Public Schools for their work with Riverside High School. The National actively supports the school, which is located nearby, hosting complimentary events for the teachers, supervisors and administration, and providing judges for the school’s cooking contest. The National has also provided jobs and education to students in the culinary department of Riverside High School.
The award-winning National Conference Center has been under new management since 2014 and continues to enhance the property with renovations, outdoor meeting and event space and the latest technology. The National is the largest conference center in Virginia with 265,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
