VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA (November 21, 2017) – A Virginia Beach icon since 1927, The Cavalier Hotel (cavalierhotel.com) is about to reopen following a massive $75-million restoration, which will include three exciting world-class dining destinations. Today, The Cavalier announces the appointment of renowned chef Dan Elinan as the hotel’s Executive Chef.

Elinan will be responsible for the culinary direction of all food and beverage outlets for the hotel including restaurants Becca, The Hunt Room and The Raleigh Room. With an extensive fine-dining background in food-centric cities around the world, Chef Elinan will oversee all three restaurants from creating the menus to hiring and supervising kitchen staff. Chef will also oversee all banquets and catering for The Cavalier, upholding the hotel’s legacy of incomparable weddings and events.

Chef Elinan was most recently Executive Chef at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront, which included overseeing popular restaurants Catch 31 and Salacia. Previous to that he was Executive Chef at the Omni Shoreham, Washington D.C. overseeing four contemporary American cuisine outlets. Prior stints included executive chef positions at the Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa and Grand Hyatt San Francisco. Elinan was also Executive Chef at Primetime Restaurants in Budapest Hungary, Executive Chef at Carlo IV & New York Palace, Boscolo Hotels in Prague and Budapest plus Chef de Cuisine for Shangri-La Hotels in Honk Kong and Shanghai. Throughout his esteemed career Chef Elinan has worked under Three Michelin Star-rated chefs and has been a guest chef at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City. He attended the Culinary Institute of American in Hyde Park, New York.

In addition to three exciting restaurants, The Cavalier will house Tarnished Truth Distillery, delighting guests with a tasting room, distillery tours, and the opportunity to create and distill their own barrels, as well as purchase The Cavalier’s signature bourbon, gin and vodka made on-site.
