McLean, Va. – February 8, 2018 – Brian Kelleher has been appointed general manager of the historic Capital Hilton, located two blocks from the White House in Washington, D.C. Kelleher returns to the 547-room landmark hotel and will oversee the operations of the icon that has been the site of many of Washington’s most noteworthy events. He most recently served as general manager of Hilton McLean in Tysons Corner since 2009 overseeing the extraordinary renovation, repositioning and redevelopment of the property.
A true hospitality professional, Kelleher has extensive experience in managing revenue and operations initiatives at both a hotel and regional level. Starting his career with Marriott, he progressed in catering operations, corporate headquarters and group sales disciplines over a twenty-year span before joining Doubletree in 1997 as regional director of sales and marketing, Mid-Atlantic region. A year later, Kelleher became the regional director of hotel performance, Mid-Atlantic region for Promus Hotels. In 1999, Kelleher headed to Crystal City where he was the general manager of the 630-full service DoubleTree and then returned to a regional positon as regional director of sales & marketing Southeast region for Hilton from 2001 to 2004. From 2004 to 2009, he was the general manager of the 544-room, Capital Hilton where he returns to oversee the historic icons 75th anniversary.
During his tenure at Hilton McLean, Kelleher led the team to incredible heights and recognition, including Hilton’s Hotel of the Year in the America’s for up to 750 room, America’s Food and Beverage Excellence award and an ALL Green Scorecard, the only Hilton Four Diamond hotel in the area. U.S. News and World Report ranked Hilton McLean as one of the top 25 hotels in the Washington Metropolitan. The hotel’s restaurant harth received much recognition as has the team with a Director of Catering of the Year for Hilton in the Americas award and multiple Hilton Circle of Excellence award winners.
Kelleher has sat on many boards during his career including the Hotel Association of Washington DC, Destination DC and Visit Fairfax.
