April 19--A 107-room extended-stay hotel is being proposed for the Town of Brookfield. The four-story Home2 Suites hotel would be developed on vacant parcels just off Larry Court, between Watertown and Blue Mound roads, north of I-94. The hotel would be developed by Goerke's Corner LLP, led by Jim Burkemper, president of Amcon Design & Construction Co., and North Liberty, Iowa-based hotel operator Kinseth Hospitality Cos., Burkemper said Saturday. April 18--Upper King Street's first boutique hotel soon will rise. A 54-room, four-story accommodation to be billed as the King Hotel will be built on a vacant lot at 583 King St. The hotel site is across the street from the twin Hyatt hotels and Midtown mixed-use facility that have been under construction since late last year. U.S. Department of Labor Files Two Lawsuits for Workers of Five Hotels Owned by Darpan Management

April 17--The U.S. Department of Labor has filed two lawsuits in the federal district court in Columbus against Darpan Management Inc.; five hotels the company owns and manages; and its owners, Darshan Shah, Vibhakar Shah and Prakash Patel. One of the lawsuits addresses violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act's minimum wage and overtime provisions for the hotel staff directly working for Darpan Management, and the other addresses similar violations for workers jointly employed by Fantastic Cleaning Ltd., a company that provided hotel staff to Darpan Management.
