CMH Milwaukee River Inn Plans to Acquire, Renovate & Rebrand Milwaukee River Hilton as Holiday Inn

Feb. 27--Glendale's Milwaukee River Hilton Hotel, which faces the prospect of closing when its franchise expires in April, would undergo extensive renovations and become a Holiday Inn under a new proposal. The plan surfaces after city officials, fearing a loss of a major hotel, last fall rejected a proposal to convert the Hilton into student housing. CMH Milwaukee River Inn LLC, an investors group whose members own hotels in West Virginia and Canada, has the 162-room Hilton, 4700 N. Port Washington Road, under contract, according to a Glendale Plan Commission review application. CMH would remodel the entire hotel, which opened in 1974.

Feb. 27--The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua Resort was sold on Thursday to a partnership between Woodridge Capital Partners LLC and Colony Capital LLC and its affiliates, which include Colony Financial. The new owners said that they intend to invest in enhancements for the resort, which will continue to be operated by The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company LLC. The 463-room resort, which was built in 1992, has not had substantial reinvestment since 2007 when a $190 million renovation added 107 Ritz-Carlton residences. Feb. 27--Visitor arrivals in January were flat against the same month last year and visitor spending, which had been declining for the previous four months, dropped by 4.7 percent during the same period, according to preliminary statistics released Thursday morning by the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA). Some 682,634 visitors came to the Hawaiian Islands in January and spent $1.37 billion on a non-seasonally adjusted basis while they were here. Groundbreaking Set for 257-room Doubletree Convention Hotel in Downtown Evansville, Indiana

Feb. 26--Ground will be broken at 3 p.m. March 10 for Evansville's Downtown convention hotel, HCW Evansville Development Inc. and Mayor Lloyd Winnecke's office announced Tuesday. The 257-room Hilton Doubletree hotel will be at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Walnut Street. It will be the centerpiece of a larger development that also includes an apartment tower, a parking garage and sky bridges.
