Dec. 11--Washington County officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday to mark the start of a hotel-building project next to Meadows Racetrack & Casino. The 155-room Hyatt Place hotel is being built on a four-acre parcel adjacent to the sprawling casino and racetrack site. It is scheduled to open in spring 2015. Upstate NY’s Historic Hotel Saranac Sold to Roedel Partners of Saranac Lake; Restoration Plans Begin

Dec. 11--SARANAC LAKE -- The historic Hotel Saranac has formally changed hands. And now new owner Roedel Partners of Saranac Lake LLC awaits word, due today, on $5 million in state economic-development capital toward the $12.5 million project. Franklin County Clerk Kip Cassavaw said the deed for the hotel was recorded at the Clerk's Office in Malone at 3 p.m. Monday. The transaction closed on Friday for $1,475,995, transferring ownership from Sardeshwari Enterprises Inc., based in Hauppauge, to Roedel. Dec. 11--Plans were revealed Tuesday for another hotel in Duluth's Miller Hill Mall area while plans progressed for two Kwik Trip stores in western Duluth. Dell Inc. of Fargo, N.D., plans to build a three-story, 96-room La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel at 1805 Maple Grove Road, just north of Miller Trunk Highway next to the Floor to Ceiling store and across from the Vein Clinic. Dell Inc. also owns La Quinta Inns in Fargo and Bismarck, N.D. A plan review for the hotel -- required because of the scope of the project -- went before the Duluth Planning Commission on Tuesday. To be Built Next to Ritz-Carlton Project Currently Under Construction Dec. 10--The developer of a Ritz-Carlton condominium-hotel in Waikiki is moving ahead with an effort to build a second luxury "condotel" tower next to the Ritz project under construction on Kuhio Avenue. Los Angeles-based PACREP LLC recently submitted a draft environmental assessment with the state for the estimated $159.5 million tower proposed to have up to 280 units.
