Dec. 03--LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. -- Last year, hotel room sales in Laurel County grew from about $12.65 million to $14.1 million, an increase of about 12 percent. This increase is credited to a greater number of tourism events hosted, recruited and sponsored in Laurel County in 2013. According to the London-Laurel County Tourist Commission, 12 tourism events were held in 2013, boosting sales for hotels, restaurants and retail stores. Dec. 03--NEW DELHI -- The national capital region (NCR) and Mumbai are likely to add around 24,000 hotel rooms in 3-5 years as the hotel market across Asia begins recovering with more foreign tourists visiting, property consultancy Cushman & Wakefield said in a report released on Monday. The annual report on hotels in Asia, which covers 23 cities, estimates the industry grew at 8% in the first half of 2013 across Asia. "Last year, 221.5 million international tourists visited Asia, which was 7.2% higher than in 2011," said the report. "Of all the sub-regions, Southeast Asia took the lead with a 9.9% year-on-year increase in arrivals.

Dec. 03--In a major step in downtown Miami's redevelopment, the Related Group unveiled plans for three tall towers at 444 Brickell Avenue, including residential, hotel, office and retail space. The mega-project, dubbed One Brickell, will include three buildings rising 80 stories, 70 stories, and 55 stories, and will encompass more than four-million square feet, including two-million sellable square feet, according to Related. Dec. 02--NEW YORK -- The Hilton hotel chain plans to offer 130 million shares in an initial public offering (IPO) that aims to raise as much as 2.7 billion dollars, a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission said Monday. Hilton was expected to offer the shares at 18 to 21 dollars each and use the proceeds to help pay down its debt. The IPO would bring about 13 per cent of the company to the market. It would be the largest IPO ever for a hotel chain and the third largest in the United States this year.
