Oct. 25--More than 100 members of the Culinary Union plan to let Metro Police arrest them on the Strip for the second time this year in protest of stalled contract negotiations at the Cosmopolitan. Billed as an act of civil disobedience, the protest will take place between 5 and 7 p.m. on Nov. 1. The Culinary has not announced how its members plan to prompt the arrests. The arrests will mark the second such action since March 20, when 98 union protesters sat in the middle of Las Vegas Boulevard and blocked traffic. HTS Hospitality Gains Site Plan Approval for New Build Home 2 Suites by Hilton in Edmond, OK

Oct. 24--The Edmond Planning Commission approved 5-0 a site plan request for Home 2 Suites Hotel, proposed to be located on Meline Drive, south of Second Street and west of Interstate 35. Two lots remain in this Fountain Oaks Addition that would be suitable for a hotel, said Bob Schiermeyer, city planner. HTS Hospitality LLC requested the site plan to accommodate a four-story Hilton Hotel product with 89 rooms on the 3.46-acre property. One parking space is planned for each of the rooms. Utility and drainage study requirements have been met. "It's my understanding they have worked on the landscaping (plan) quite a bit," Schiermeyer said
