Oct. 20--The gig: Steve Choe, 34, is general manager of the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City, a luxury hotel with 361 rooms, including 151 suites. The jewel of the hotel is the Royal Suite, which has 3,300 square feet of space and a view that stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the Hollywood sign. Oct. 20--Hawkeye Hotels, a hospitality company owned by the Patel family, has added the Comfort Suites Hotel & Convention Center in Burlington to its growing number of U.S. facilities. Hawkeye Hotels purchased the hotel for an undisclosed amount from ORE Inc., a subsidiary of McFarland State Bank of McFarland, Wis. The bank acquired Comfort Suites at a Des Moines County sheriff's sale in January as it provided the only bid in winning an assigned judgment of $5.2 million. Oct. 20--The long-delayed hotel planned at the headquarters of Darden Restaurants is finally underway. Site work has begun on the property, which will be a Courtyard by Marriott. Construction is expected to be complete in 10 to 12 months. The hotel is expected to open this time next year, said Darden spokesman Rich Jeffers. Darden said that the 128-room hotel will be developed by Concord Hospitality Enterprises of Raleigh, N.C. Oct. 19--Dallas-based Aimbridge Hospitality was chosen to manage the Wyndham San Antonio Riverwalk hotel. Formerly the Crowne Plaza, the 21-story, 410-room hotel is located at 111 E. Pecan St. The hotel is the 36th Wyndham property in the Aimbridge portfolio, according to a news release. Cypress Real Estate Advisors owns the downtown hotel.
