Oct. 07--MILTON -- Having a new hotel built on the site of the former Holiday Inn on Navarre Beach is coming closer to reality. Holi Corp president Marilyn Hess, who owns the lease on the 18-acre property, has submitted a request asking Santa Rosa County to approve specific incentives to help move the new hotel's development forward. Oct. 06--Joe and Frances McCann Limited Partnership has filed suit in 2nd District Court against William J. Lawson, Christopher R. Ashenbrener and L&A Hospitality LLC., on five counts, including fraud and violating their fiduciary duty. McCann is suing the same two Spokane-area entrepreneurs that it joined back in October 2000 to build the Holiday Inn Express on Nez Perce Drive in Lewiston. Oct. 05--TUPELO -- The Hilton Garden Inn in Tupelo has been sold to Peachtree Hotel Group of Atlanta. The hotel in the Fairpark District was opened by Master Hospitality of Memphis in November 2006 and represented a $22 million investment The hotel opened with 110 rooms, but within six months, Master Hospitality owner Tom Ricketts announced an expansion of the hotel. Forty-eight rooms were added, with the work completed in 2008. HREC Investment Advisors represented Ricketts and Master Hospitality in the deal. Oct. 05--During the past decade, downtown Austin ushered in a wave of housing with new condominium and apartment towers. Now, a tide of hotel development is sweeping the central business district that could add more than 3,200 guest rooms during the next three years, a roughly 40 percent increase over the current downtown stock of just more than 8,000.
