Oct. 03--The Palms has a new boss. Daniel Lee, the former chairman and chief executive officer of Pinnacle Entertainment, has taken over the off-strip resort as its new CEO. He replaces Joseph A. Magliarditi, who joined the Palms in June 2011 and recently resigned to pursue other business interests, according to Alex Acuna, the Palms' spokesman. Oct. 02--Construction on the 120-room Courtyard by Marriott is getting into full swing, operators say. Work is ramping up at the Rose Street property on a hotel project that's been more than five years in the works. Oct. 02--An Argentine investment group has purchased the Berkeley Shore Hotel in Miami Beach and plans to renovate and expand. Guesch Inc. was the seller of the 64-room Art Deco property at 1610 Collins Ave. and Majestic Properties handled the deal, which closed Sept. 5. A representative of the real estate company would not disclose the selling price, but said it was "very close" to the asking price of nearly $13.8 million. Fergus Falls, MN Hampton Inn Hotel Plans Fall Through

Oct. 02--Plans to build a new Hampton Inn hotel on the west side of Fergus Falls are no longer in the works, hotel owner Brian Patel confirmed Tuesday. Brian and Vibha Patel are owners of 14 Hampton Inn hotels across the Midwest. Last fall, they purchased the lots along Western Avenue on the west side of Fergus Falls near Interstate 94. Oct. 01--Caesars Entertainment Corp. has sold 10.3 million shares of its common stock to a Swiss banking firm for $200 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Credit Suisee Securities purchased the stock for $19.40 per share. Today's sale follows the heels of the gaming giant's Sept. 25 move to offer common stock to generate cash to pay down a mortgage loan. Under an agreement, the banking firm has 30 days to purchase an additional 1.5 million shares.
