Sept. 11--The Burbank Planning Board on Monday signed off on plans to construct a five-story, 170-room hotel on the South San Fernando Boulevard corridor. The project is touted by the developer as an opportunity to revitalize downtown by drawing business and leisure travelers to the area. The proposed Grandview Suites hotel, to be located on San Fernando between Santa Anita and Providencia avenues, is the second of two new hotels slated for the corridor. Sept. 10--A Capitol Broadcasting subsidiary plans a 143-room hotel adjoining the Durham Performing Arts Center and the Diamond View parking deck, along with retail space and expanded DPAC amenities in a 102,000-square foot "Wrapper Building." The city-owned DPAC would get a 4,000-square foot addition to its President's Club lounge, which the city proposes to lease for $9,054 a month; and 942 square feet for a new women's restroom, which the city proposes to buy for $641,388. Area Officials Consider Resort Plan for Former Oil Tank Farm Site Overlooking Avila Beach in CA

Sept. 10--San Luis Obispo County supervisors Tuesday took the first step in a long process that could lead to a hotel resort being built on the coastal bluffs overlooking Avila Beach where an oil tank farm once stood. Supervisors authorized county planners to begin a general plan amendment changing the zoning of the 95-acre property from industrial to recreational. Property owner Chevron Co. has not submitted a formal development plan but has a project outline or "vision" for the property. The outline includes developing the site into a resort with a restaurant, spa, shops, cottages and hotel. Also proposed are a coastal bluff trail tha
