PKF Consulting USA, LLC | August 15, 2013
ATLANTA, Ga., August 20, 2013 - PKF Consulting USA, LLC (PKFC), announced today that the average Caribbean hotel that participated in the survey enjoyed a 10.9 percent increase in net operating income (NOI) in 2012, according to its newly released 2013 edition of Caribbean Trends® in the Hotel Industry. This is the second year in a row that Caribbean hotels have experienced a double-digit increase in NOI and the highest annual growth in profits that Caribbean hotels have seen since 2008. "While this continued profit growth is encouraging, the Caribbean lodging market still is not back to its pre-recession levels. Recovery in the Cari
California’s Disneyland Area to Get 14 New Hotels Adding a Staggering 19% More Rooms Totaling 3,770
August 15, 2013
Aug. 15--A flurry of new hotels will soon pop up around Disneyland -- adding a staggering 19 percent more rooms in a district that had been dormant for a half-dozen years. Developers plan to build 3,770 rooms -- in an expansion and 14 new hotels. The first new hotel will open as early as December. Tourism and development officials say the industry is bouncing back after the recession, now that the financial market has loosened up and hoteliers are again able to get loans. An added bonus to the Anaheim-Garden Grove swath near the two Disney parks: the popularity of the $1.1 billion upgrade of Disney California Adventure, with its new Car
Joe Montana’s Hotel Project Near 49ers’ New Stadium Delayed Until 2016 Due to On-going Negotiations
August 15, 2013
Aug. 15--SANTA CLARA -- San Francisco 49ers fans yearning for the full red-and-gold experience when the team's new stadium opens next year will have to live without their idol Joe Montana's new project going up across the street -- at least for a while. The Hall of Famer originally wanted his four-star hotel, upscale restaurant and sports bar to open with the stadium in August 2014. But the new goal is to have the project open in time for the 50th Super Bowl, to be held in Levi's Stadium in February 2016. After more than a year of negotiations, Montana and his business partners, who include former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr., have b
Plans for 120-room Courtyard Marriott Hotel Submitted to Village of Lake George, New York
August 15, 2013
Aug. 15--LAKE GEORGE -- Canada Street will be home to a Courtyard Marriott hotel with a conference center, restaurant and retail space, which could be a reality as soon as early 2015. Local developer Dave Kenny on Thursday unveiled plans for a six-story, 120-room hotel, which will cost an estimated $15 million in construction costs alone. The hotel will be located just south of Lake George High School. Kenny over the years has amassed a number of parcels for a spot large enough to make a chain hotel in the village a reality. The first floor includes a 5,500-square-foot restaurant space, four different retail areas, a main lobby, theater
Portland, Oregon Officials Consider Terms for Proposed Hyatt Regency Convention Center Hotel
August 14, 2013
Aug. 14--A funding plan for the proposed hotel at the Oregon Convention Center on Thursday goes before the Metro Council, the first -- and likely the friendliest -- of the three political bodies that have to sign off. The regional government's elected council will vote on a term sheet that outlines the broad strokes of its deal with Minneapolis developer Mortenson Development and the company's partners to build a publicly subsidized Hyatt Regency across the street from the convention center. It will also consider amendments to an agreement with the city of Portland and Multnomah County that will allow it to redirect proceeds from a loca

Looking to Expand in Miami, Florida, Virgin Hotels Opens Local Office
August 14, 2013
Aug. 14--With an eye on expansion in South Florida and beyond, Virgin Hotels has opened an office in Miami. About 10 employees are working in the Coconut Grove office, which set up shop last month. Sister company Virgin Mobile Latin America was already operating in the same building on South Bayshore Drive; now the companies share space. A Virgin Hotels office in New York has about five employees. Virgin Hotels CEO Raul Leal said the company, which launched two and a half years ago, plans to open its first property in Chicago next year. New York will follow in 2016. Leal said the search is still on for the right real estate in Miami. "I
