July 25--An $8 million extended-stay hotel proposed for Wauwatosa's Innovation Campus development is back on track after the County Board approved the project Thursday without a wage mandate. Jacksonville, Ill.-based Hospitality Specialists Inc. wants to operate the 128-room hotel at the development, which is east of Highway 45 and north of Watertown Plank Road. The hotel's brand hasn't yet been named. The board on June 20 approved a development agreement for the hotel. Hawaii Visitor Spending Up 7% in June According to Hawaii Tourism Authority

July 25--Visitor spending in Hawaii rose for the first time in three months in June as the number of tourists to the state rose 5.5 percent over the year-earlier period. Spending increased 7 percent as visitors doled out $1.31 billion compared with $1.22 billion a year ago, according to data released today by the Hawaii Tourism Authority. There were 716,577 arrivals in the month, up from 679,463 a year ago, as all the major markets showed gains except for the U.S. East. July 25--The Dauphin County General Authority opened a hotel in Pittsburgh in 2000 thinking it was a strong investment. That hasn't been the case. For most of its history, the Hyatt Regency at the Pittsburgh International Airport has not earned the Authority enough money to keep up with its more than $5 million in annual debt payments on the property. The Authority spent most of 2012 in technical default on the $90 million it still owes on the hotel, according to the Authority's 2012 audit.
