Accor, the largest hotel operator in Australia, has announced the signing of Novotel Melbourne Box Hill, a new-build hotel set to open in January 2025.

The hotel will be located in the heart of Box Hill, one of Melbourne’s most vibrant suburbs, and will offer guests a relaxing accommodation experience.

Novotel Melbourne Box Hill will feature 132 guestrooms, conference and events facilities including a 200-capacity ballroom. Guests will be able to enjoy a variety of dining options, including an all-day dining restaurant, lobby bar/café and an incredible rooftop bar. The hotel will also feature a day spa, sauna, wellness centre and gym, and will be one of the closest hotels to Box Hill Hospital and Epworth Eastern Hospital aided by the adjacent new suburban rail loop.

The Novotel Melbourne Box Hill is owned by APH Holding, a Melbourne-born asset management and realisation company. Built on three pillars: safety, stability, and sustainability, APH Holding is committed to delivering on its commitments to devise projects that offer measurable benefits to the community, create local jobs, and build for future generations of Melburnians.

Johnson Zhang, CEO of APH Holding, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Accor on this exciting development. Novotel Melbourne Box Hill will be a flagship for the area, and we are confident that it will become a popular destination for both locals and visitors to Melbourne. The hotel will have access to public transport and retail amenities and will be an appropriate asset for Melbourne’s much needed second CBD which should promote, leisure and business.

Accor Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Derry, said: “The signing of Novotel Melbourne Box Hill is a significant milestone for Accor as we continue to expand our presence in Victoria. Box Hill is a vibrant and growing suburb, and we are excited to offer both business and leisure travellers a stylish and contemporary accommodation option in this dynamic community.”

The signing of the Novotel Melbourne Box Hill is part of Accor’s ongoing commitment to expanding its portfolio of hotels in Australia, with a focus on providing guests with high-quality accommodation and exceptional service.

Novotel has one of the largest hotel brand footprints across Australia and New Zealand, with more than 40 hotels in key metropolitan and leisure destinations. The brand’s global reputation for intuitive, modern design and rewarding guest experiences will make Novotel Melbourne Box Hill a landmark destination in Melbourne, offering guests a relaxing accommodation experience in the heart of one of the city’s most exciting suburbs.

Box Hill is an outer suburb of Metropolitan Melbourne, located approximately 14km east of the CBD. Following a recent construction boom in Box Hill, it has been dubbed “Melbourne’s second city” as it is home to multiple high-rise buildings, including the tallest building in Melbourne outside the CBD.

As a result of years of continued investment, Box Hill is now one of the largest commercial business hubs and transport interchanges outside of Melbourne CBD. The City of Whitehorse, of which Box Hill is the major economic hub, is home to nearly 180,000 people and had a Gross Regional Product of $1.5 billion in 2019.
